Like Pirate fans bitch and moaned about all the Phillies threads (here) from 2007-2012? Just curious. But, I'm certain all the Phillies fans already know the answer.

Cause we really don't care about about what Pirate fans think? Phillies have so many issues (thanks Ruben) and are years away from being relevant in my opinion... I went to Phillies opening day and won't be back in South Philadelphia until September 5th. Football season couldn't get here soon enough.

Well, for me, as a Phillies fan, the Pirates have been so bad for the longest time and the Phillies have been really good for a long time, it's OK for the Pirates to have a good year or two.
Sorry to say sustaining either will be short term because of the MLB money structure. Phils will get better shortly and the Pirates will be hard pressed to be "good". BECAUSE it's a money game.

Not sure what you're talking about. I can't say there wasn't a post or two complaining about 'all the phillies threads,' but I definitely don't remember some systematic anti-philly campaign from pirate fans. In other words, I think you're overly sensitive and hold grudges too long.

My advice would he to forget about it. Life is too short, and it didn't really happen like you think you remember anyway.

I'm letting them have their day in the sun. The team is good this year should be talked about...we'll talk about the Phillies a lot more when they are good again.

As an avid Phillies fan, I remember the OP is absolutely correct that there was indeed an anti-Phillies campaign from Pirate fans. However, most Philly fans (including me) don't get too wrapped up with the Pirate's recent success since they were so pathetic for so long. Since we are down, I will root for another PA team. Go Pirates.

As a son of the lands west of the Alleghenys that has lived in the Del Val for a quarter century, all of my Phillie fan friends are pulling for the Buccos this year. Likewise, I've been a Phillies supporter since '92 and still am when they're not facing the Pirates.

So when the Phillies are contenders again, this Pirates fan will look forward to Phillies chatter on the board.

Even with the long the long dry spell the Bucs still have more championships than the Phils.

Perhaps, as Phillies fans, we know that you should allow other baseball fans enjoy any fleeting success. Except the Yankees & Cubsfans of course!

After all, we are fans of the team with the most losses of any professional team in the world, more than 1,000 games under 0.500. To put that in perspective, our Phillies would have to go on more than a seven SEASON winning streak to approach a 0.500 franchise record.

That is quite true. My point was that because of the NEW money structure it will be more difficult for the Pirates to maintain success while the Phillies will have less of a challenge.
Actually, I would rather have a level playing field as in "days of old". But, as we all know, money does not cure all.

I'm with you 100%. Sadly we are in separate divisions and money interests have put an end to our rivalry. When the Phillies get good again, and it will be sooner rather than later, I'll be pulling for them. However, I don't think the Bucs' success will be fleeting. They have a very adroit management team and are being built for long term success.

The Phillies are the worst team in recorded history. Most ever in total losses over an eternity.

The reason Phillies fans don't care is because they don't care.

Yankess !!

Well, Philly is a hockey and football city, baseball and basketball, not really that important to most. That's my take anyway ..... Even when the Phillies were good, I still didn't good to that many games.

Well you are in the minority, I think. How many sellouts did they have in a row?

I think in recent years they were drawing over 3 million a season. I think close to 3.5 million? and had become a national brand. Philadelphia, even when bad is still a sports town. That includes the 76ers.

No question.

No idea how you came up with this takeaway. Whether the teams are good or bad, Philly is a big time sports town for all major sports.

Oddly, their president is from the Philly suburbs. My brother played ice hockey with him in HS.

I think a case can be made that Philly is very much a basketball town (though not to the exclusion of the other sports). Very successful concentration of D1 programs and the Sixers/Warriors have a storied history despite the Sixers recent downturn. How many great NBA and college stars came out of Philly high schools? Wilt, Gola, Kobe, Rasheed Wallace, Earl the Pearl, Kyle Lowry?
