I thought this propaganda rag went under. Saw it reffed elsewhere, and went there to see some whiny crap in the letters to the editor.

How did this crap den survive?

Its still very much a thing. Just gets less funding from the university than it use to.
And don't know what qualifies as "whiny crap" but the letters to the editor I saw just now are leagues better than the ones I would read 30 years ago when in school.

Is the BoT involved in the sham? I stopped going there long ago figuring it deep sixed.

I'm sure I missed some real journalistic gems.

Wonderful news. The Collegian and Student Government are bringing RuPaul's drag race to campus.

Outstanding. Truly a Pull-it-zer prize winning piece.

Of MAN-ure.

Perhaps both can get Amaechi to emcee this needless and sick event.

A chance for the BoT to needlessly piss away yet more money.

It is a student newspaper. It is a chance for these young journalist to learn their trade and gain experience.

They're learning nothing but BoT and administration butt licking. It's a terrible rag as opposed to what it used to be.
I have subscriptions to 4 newspapers none of them are what they were 20 years ago. The local news is gone. The editor's page is fluff. A majority of the articles are AP old news.

That being said I still enjoy reading them. To expect hard hitting articles from 18 year old kids is kind of unrealistic.

Not hard hitting, just factual not garbage they're told to print. The truth would be novel as well.

It is that! Unfortunately, they'll be well qualified to advance their careers in what has become a broken and corrupt fourth estate.
One of our regular substitutes is a retired professor from Maryland who taught in the communications department. He’s been out for at least five years and it said that journalistic integrity is no longer taught and that being the first to break a story, even if it is 90% incorrect is now more important than Being able to give a story that is 90% correct
