Dallas Cowboys sign undrafted OT La'el Collins

1.75 million over 3 years 100% guaranteed. Incredible value for a top 15 pick.

Eagle fans should be worrying.
Cowboys not afraid to draft OL.
Wait...Eagles have Tobin and the other guy.
Smashmouth.

Has he been cleared in the homicide case already? Or are the cryboys just hoping to take a cheap flyer on him?

His agent stated he wouldn't sign if drafted below round 3. Whoops.

He wanted to go in the supplemental draft, then he couldn't, then he was going to wait until the 2016 draft, then signed a FA contract. Kid sounds like he' pretty sharp kid. Whoops.

Say what you will about the Cowboys and Jerry Jones. A number of moves they have made lately have been risky but if they pay off, that team is going to be scary good for a very long time. They have strongly invested in their offensive line over the past 3-4 years and you saw the dividends paying off last year. This Collins kid will only strengthen an already very strong unit. On defense, again, risk with Greg Hardy and risk with Randy Gregory but if they both come back and stay on the right path, the pass rush the Cowboys are going to bring is going to be something. Couple that with working on the secondary (their weakness) in the draft and its hard to argue that that team is not going in the right direction. In reality, if you really look at this year, the Cowboys got 3 first round caliber guys (Byron Jones, Gregory and Collins) while only holding one first round pick. Pretty impressive if it pans out.

But wait.....I thought he had dinner with Rex Ryan? Is Jerry going to pay for his lawyer?

With Tony Romo at QB, late in the game, good luck with that!

:p

Impressive, yes. And, I doubt if any of these moves are as risky as we are being told we should believe. I basically agree with you, though.

Unless I missed the latest news, I don't understand people's problems with this kid. It blows my mind how a bunch of people who scream bloody murder when PSU gets piled on by ignorant fans do the same thing to other schools or players. Wake up.

Well, I don't really think anyone is piling on. He was being investigated for murder, for chrissakes. He was not implicated by police, so people have backed off.

I think it's more the Cowboys who are being piled on, with or without just cause.

I'm not a big fan of the Cowboys but it's a good pick up by them. I thought a team might take a chance with a 7th round pick but for Collins not being drafted gave him the chance to pick his team. How many undrafted free agents get a contract like he received?
