So I have had a day to calm down and make a few non-alcohol related observations. And I am not overreacting. It's not that we lost to Temple. They are a good team and gonna be in a bowl game...they could win 8 or 9 games but I doubt they play with the kind of emotion they did yesterday.....After losing to PSU since WWII it was inevitable that at some time they would beat us....My bitch is that we made the same disgusting mistakes that we did last year. This staff has had 8 months to fix the problem and they did nothing. JVP used to say, "You either get better or you get worse, you never stay the same." Well, we have gotten worse!

Its unfathomable to me that in the past 8 months we have no answers for blitzing. It's not effing rocket science! You either have a package of screens and draws and passes the backs in the flat to slow the blitz down or you bring in 2-3 tight ends, max protect and run 2 man routes with Hamilton and Godwin. Whatever system you choose you make sure Hackenberg does not get hit. The negative plays are killing us and Donovan, Hand and ultimately Franklin are to blame for this.

I dont mind losing to teams that play better than we do, but being beat the same way you got beat 9 months ago is coaching more than it is players...

I'm watching Marshall and Purdue play and they both look better than we do. I know it's not recruiting since Franklin has had much higher ranked recruiting classes so it has to be coaching. When you're in your second year at a major university and you fallen below Temple, Marshall and Purdue, you're doing something really wrong.

Except for the caveat that our QB heading into his 3rd year of starting is supposed to be getting better against blitz heavy defenses, no? Did you see any evidence whatsoever that Johnny All-World has gotten one iota better recognizing Blitz Packages? Adjusting to them? Shifting the team into an alignment and play that has any hope of working? Any urgency to get the ball out of the pocket quickly when it is obvious that the opponent is bringing everyone? Etc, etc, etc.....

Frankly, I agree with you that it may be Franklin's fault because he has stayed with a QB who makes no plays unless he can be provided infinite time (and even then he only completes about half his throws and the only thing he does consistently is make bad throws every other throw), is good for a dagger to the heart INT just about every game, provides zero leadership and actually destroys the teams attitude (ask any coach, a team will take on the personality of its QB), etc.... -- he's stayed with a QB who hurts the team far more than he helps it for far too long at this point.

Well...one thing we can do is call the quick hitting blitz play at the LOS because if I am playing PSU I am bring one on every play....if it was my team PSU would max protect every play...Hamilton and Godwin are good enough to beat most anyone and with our bevy of backs we could pound people....max protect and chuck a few deep....you would be amazed at how reluctant coaches are to blitz if they no they can give up a big play and are not able to touch the QB...

Need the nastiest guy on our team and make him a full back. The offense on the whole did not look
mean , it's football you got to smash some one in the mouth once in a while.
