I am such a fan of how this young man wrestles. He reminds me of Jason Nolf in how he relentlessly tries to score from every position at all times. I am hooked. I think he is big trouble moving forward for anyone in his path. He looks like a 15 year old kid physically. His motor is certainly Nolf like. When I watched Nolf at the Scufffle his redshirt year it was a case of just knowing he was special because of his whole style and pursuit. This guy gives me those same feelings.

I like to watch him too. Really interested to see him get cracks at more of the top guys.

Yep. He’s high on my list of guys I wish were Penn Staters...along with Keegan and a few others.

Our room (and coaching philosophy) would make that kid really soar. Think how good Gable Stevenson would be if he were in our room with his skills being honed by Cael and AC! :p

Probably be the best in the world. Almost certainly an Olympic gold medal - oh, wait. Nevermind.

Reminds me of a story the late Jim Valvano used to tell about his arrival at NC State.

Soon after Jim Valvano became the basketball coach at North Carolina State in the spring of 1980, he decided to get a haircut at the campus barbershop. When he walked in, the barber, an older man whom Valvano guessed had probably been working at State for 40 or 50 years, peered at him as if he recognized him.

"Aren't you the fella who replaced Norman Sloan as basketball coach?" he asked, as Valvano settled into the chair.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I am," Valvano replied.

"Well," the barber said, "all I can say is, I hope you have more luck than old Norm did."

Valvano couldn't help himself. "Now wait a minute," he said. "Didn't old Norm win a national championship here? Didn't he go 27-0 one season while he was here?"

The barber paused, scissors in the air to think about that for a minute. "Yeah, I guess he did," he finally said. "But just imagine what old Dean Smith would have done with that team."

He’d have won that Gold in more dominant fashion, have a couple more World Gold’s to go along with it…and a LOVE for REAL wrestling that would motivate him to become a 4-time NCAA champ before heading off to the fake wrestling WWE world.

The best thing that happened to Gable S was Anthony Cassar. He humbled him and made Gable a better version of himself.

Really fun to watch. Just let's it fly. What he's doing is what I think most here hoped SVN would be doing at 149 this year. I feel super offensive kids get out the gates faster in college than defensive ones.

Hopefully Alex can reclose the gap on him.

I think I’m in the minority but I’d still rather have Facundo moving forward. Those 2 should have some great battles over the next few years

Stevenson even said so himself. Here's a couple of excerpts from a newspaper article.

Steveson’s freshman season was off to a great start until he was derailed in the 2019 Big Tens and NCAAs by Penn State’s Anthony Cassar. Those surprising losses still sting, and Steveson would have it no other way.

Steveson has a picture of Cassar up in his locker in Dinkytown.

“It hasn’t moved in two years. … It’s just me knowing I could have done things different and he did things right that year,” Steveson said. “For me to go in there and look at it and seeing my last loss was to him, to an American person at the collegiate level. It makes me want to go hard.”

I wonder how he would feel about leaving the sport if he were still undefeated.

Gable and @LemonPie have quite a bit in common then

And, I remember that Scuffle. Jason lost to James Green in the finals. Green won the match, and deservedly so. But, he was worn out at the end.
