Perhaps someone should ask Jim Delany about the 1978 investigation into his sexual relationship with "a young woman" provided to him by an Ole Miss football player when he was an NCAA INVESTIGATOR.

Case transcript here: https://archive.org/stream/enforcementprogr00unit/enforcementprogr00unit_djvu.txt

There was no smoking gun to prove Jim Delany's quid-pro-quo agreement to drop the investigation in exchange for sexual favors, however the report did make the following conclusion:

"The report further finds that [Ole Miss football player James] Jordan did arrange a date for Delany in Kosciuski, Mississippi."

If anyone has a subscription to the New York Times, you'd be doing us all a big solid by capturing this headline in a screenshot. Need someone to step up!

We want this, but the larger version, from the above link:

It’s Misssiippii and 1978. Old. Maid.
Yup - wasting prime baby-makin’ years

Edit - somewhat chastening - Pa and Miss now have the same Age of Consent (16) - in the low range across the country :(

Also, some interesting research. In 1880, before the AoC’s got raised progressively in the next century, most standards were 10-12 years old, but Delaware had it at 7 years old. Yikes. So Delaware was the equivalent of Yemen back in the day

I am no fan of Delaney's. And I love what you do. But I don't think this is helpful.

Just shot and thought I pasted but doesn’t look like it worked. Please provide instructions.
Thank you for the effort.

You can try two things:
1. Save the full PDF to your device and email it to ChiTownLionPSU@gmail.com. That's your best bet for highest quality.
2. You can always upload images to tinypic (http://tinypic.com/), then click on the image, copy the URL and paste it into the "image" function in your post.

Any Penn State Student, Faculty, or Staff can access the full historical records of the New York Times (and most other major publications).
Here's a link in case someone would like to help.

Have to agree with you here. These sort of revelations in my opinion do more damage than harm. The police, media, etc. need to take collateral damage into account before, in their zest for publicity, release this sort of information. For example, what is to be gained by releasing the Robert Kraft video? Yet, this is what they want to do. I mean really, is that necessary? Unfortunately, the ferocity of the media these days knows no limits.

P.S. Pittsburgh guys might remember Marty Griffin's over zealousness resulting in the suicide of a local minister. Reported he was in a porn shop. Is this really newsworthy?

Constantly torn between the eye for an eye vs turn the other cheek approach. If they express sincere remorse for what they've done to our community, then maybe turn the other cheek. If they hold us up at gun-point and impose unprecedented sanctions designed to destroy us with malice, pay themselves $20 million bonuses and refuse to make us whole on the bowl money they stole, then they're rapping freeh-style.

All good points, Chi. What I struggle with is the innocent people that can be hurt by these type of things.

Was thinking of relatives, kids, etc. Trust me, I can't stand Jimbo.

Back then, child mortality rates were pretty high and life expectancy in general was quite short. They had to start early. If there's grass on the field, play ball.

7 yrs. does seem outrageously young, as girls at that age are incapable of producing children. I guess it should be no surprise that Delaware's AoC was that low.

Freeh would really suck at the old card game “Killer”

Ah, first paragraph totally makes sense.

What I found astounding when I went down the research worm-hole is that Bahrain has the highest current age of consent - 21!!!!
