Most of Michigan’s offensive success came from OKorn scrambling and picking up chunks of yardage on broken plays. Barrett will kill us if we give him the same lanes. This was really the only issue I took from the Michigan game. Anyone else concerned?

I worry more about Dobbins running against us than I do Barrett. He's probably the best back we will see all year, at least as far as the regular season goes. Again, we have to win first down.

I expect to see OSU attack us on the edge. They didn't have a ton of success, but Michigan did move the chains and score running outside. May have to crash our field side CB to make these tackles or at least force the play back towards the middle.

I think our speed on defense negates anyone making a living running outside on us. On the 4th and goal play, we were stacked inside and even then, although Jason Cabinda played a hell of a game, he took a bad angle on the play. If he takes a good angle, #22 doesn’t make it to the pylon.

Yep, and Bowen really closed on that one and nailed Higdon. Barely made it.

The only mistake was waiting until second down to go into the 5-5-1 goal line set. They got 5 yards in their jumbo package on first down.

Even w/ the TD, I had a bit of a smile after that play b/c of that stick. They got their half a yard, but man, they had to pay a price.
Felt the same way. A lot of people, myself included, assumed that UM would be the more physical team. Not even close. PSU physically mauled UM.

I listed the same concern in a reply to another post. That must be fixed or PSU goes down. Barrett is so much more elusive in the open field, so letting him loose means huge chunk plays and possibly touchdown(s).

On that play UM switched from the I formation to the offset on the field side. Our LBs didn't shift at all in response. Should they have side-stepped to the field side or does the possibility of a counter to the boundary dictate that they not shift and react to the RB. Bowen almost stopped him.

With Barrett’s poor passing game, we can afford to put a spy on him or otherwise contain him. I’m sure they will still try to blitz or get pressure, but not at the expense of risking huge scrambles.

Really depends on how the secondary is set to defend the play as well. We seemed to think that Michigan might pass on first down, and that if they did run our DL might penetrate and disrupt the play.

I was very impressed with how we handled that series of plays. Our stops on second and third down proved we were not going to be manhandled. They beat us wide, but Bowen's hit at the goal line set the tone.
