After watching the 2014 B10 finals match between Delgado and Nico i was wondering if the match's referee ever watched a replay and thought to himself "gee, I wonder why I never even warned Delgado for stalling."

I know what happened, Nitlion!

You found your Nokia flip phone under the couch, charged it, turned it on, and hit “Create Thread” on whatever web page was in the Netscape mobile browser. Right? :)

Remember when the smaller your phone was, the cooler you were?

Flips phones were damn cool in '04. Then they came out with a camera on them and everyone just lost their shit. Then the world would never be the same.

Interestingly enough, I was walking the streets of Mount Lebanon, PA and walked past a guy that I swore was Delgado. I mentioned something to a friend about it and he said I think he lives here now. Turns out it was him!

Or.......the match could have been on BTN, he watched it and decided to post.

Have you ever posted and not hijacked the thread?

More seriously: Delgado joined the Cyclone RTC less than a year ago, is not listed on the PWC website, and has no obvious ties to western PA (unless his wife is from there), so I'm skeptical of him living in Pittsburgh.

I'm sure he'd go to the best training opportunity, but PWC isn't the best funded RTC (only 3 resident athletes) and already has a really good guy at his weight.

Although Delgado was no fun to watch, I give him credit for winning within the rules as that referee interpreted them. I recall Delgado's post match interview. As he was receiving some boos, he said: if you don't like the way I wrestle, don't watch.

Thankfully, if that match were wrestled today, there would likely be a few stalling calls.

Also if that that match happened today Delgado would wrestle it a bit differently knowing the rules have changed.
Reminds me of when the rules changed in freestyle from the ball grab years, when there was more standing around and being defensive. It took a minute or two for the Ruasians to get in better shape and adjust to the new format.

Maybe ... but the rule change knocked 2x champ Heil off the podium.

Dude. I rescued the thread from having zero likes and zero replies and being pushed off page one, and I let people have fun and reminisce. Also, I saved Latin. :)

This is coming from one source, so all my chips lie with him on this one, but supposedly he married Mike Carr’s sister. South Fayette and Mount Lebanon are very close. This seems reasonable to me. To answer your other question, he did back up, but I did think it was odd how he was hanging on people’s ankles during the middle of a pandemic, with you know the social distance thing going on.
