Specifically Beto and Stacey.............

But never before has such small-scale loserdom so often been sufficient to achieve such large-scale stardom. Apart from Abrams and O’Rourke, there have also been other examples in recent years. Jaime Harrison made an unsuccessful bid for the DNC chairmanship, then an unsuccessful bid to unseat Lindsey Graham in South Carolina, and then a second bid, this time successful, for the DNC chairmanship. MJ Hegar, a Texas Democrat, lost a close House race in 2018, then a not-so-close Texas Senate race in 2020. Amy McGrath likewise used a close loss for a House seat, hers in Kentucky, to launch a Senate campaign against Mitch McConnell that ended in a 20-point loss. This, it seems, is the golden age of the superstar loser.

Uh-oh.... leftwing infighting. NYT writer Ed Kilgore takes exception to The Atlantic article.

No, Stacey Abrams Is Not a ‘Superstar Loser’

Ok. I concede. She's just a regular loser for whom "statewide office" is above her ceiling. Same with Beto.

Look, at least Booty-judge had the good sense to recalibrate after deciding to jump from Mayor of South Bend to President of the United States, and at least try a cabinet appointment on for size. And who knows, that may be the "experience" that gets him the D nomination in 2024. Well, that and his "boyish" good looks.

I do recall your desired outcome for the 2022 midterms of Beto and Stacey realizing they hit the ceiling.

I googled superstar loser. A photo of Dr. Oz appeared.
