Someone should study the correlation between the founding of the Dept. of Ed (1979) and our students' declining aptitude scores. Something tells me the Dept. of Ed is an advocate for teachers' unions and not parents & students. For real. At any rate, we'll never beat China to Mars with the Three Rs taking a back seat to CRT.
