Did Trump commit quid pro quo for personal gain or for national security?

Victor Davis Hanson answered it beautifully on Martha MacCallum tonight. He said there are three reasons the 'personal gain' argument doesn't hold water.

1. First, the fact Biden is running for president in 2020 does not exempt him for his nefarious behavior with the Ukraine as vice president. Booyah!
2. So we're accusing Trump of a 'thought crime' because the Ukraine got its aid regardless of what transpired on the phone call. It's very Orwellian in conception.
3. Obama actually committed a quid pro quo with Putin over the missile defense system for eastern Europe nobody raised an eyebrow. If he hadn't been caught on a 'hot mic' nobody would've known. Which underscores the fact there are no standards when it comes to a president bartering with nations over receiving foreign aid.

Now, given those circumstances is it fair to continue the witch hunt. I think not. But we're not playing on a level playing field, now are we. Pelosi has rewritten the impeachment process and Schiff has bastardized whistleblower protections. But there's still hope. The royal scam will see the 'light of day' in House Judiciary committee, and that's when the public will scrutinize and see through the bull$hit. I can't wait!

I thank you.
