...if you could choose one football player or program related person (dead or alive so this can be hypothetical), to have over for a meal and maybe a few pops and no questions were off limits, who would it be?
I know many of you are thinking: JoePa, Sandusky, Shultz, Curley, Spanier, Big Red, ect. But we all know how that would go down as far as the questions this would generate.
I'd rather focus on just football stuff...I graduated in 1992 and got to enjoy guys live like Blair Thomas, Gary Brown, Craig Fayak (beat no. 1 ND in South Bend with last second FG as a Freshmen). I am also a big fan of Lavar, Poz, Daryl Clark, DWill, McMoxie and many others. But the guy I whose brain I'd love to pick is Rip Engle. He kind of gets swept under the rug since his successor went on to win more games...then some of those games vanished myseriously...then just as quickly, he got them back...making him, for the second time, the winningest college coach ever! Rip really got the program going in the right direction...and his decision to have Joe follow in his footsteps was a program-altering decision. Would love to hear his comments about his decision to hire JoePa and learn more about their relationship. But that's just me...how about you guys? Young guys please weigh in too!!
So...Rip...the menu tonight is my birthday meal...homemade mac 'n cheese with a side of ribeye! We will also hang by the fire pit sipping on Bulliet bourbon on the rocks. Go State!
