There is no paint available that colors this as positive for PSU. I stand by my statement "IF" Clifford goes down."Don't be so dramatic

Who knows what will happen? (answer: no one )
And while it certainly - all other things being the same - is never a good thing to have one fewer talented QBs on the roster, things are never - - - NEVER - - - "all other things being the same".
I can certainly see circumstances that could make this a very positive outcome (relative to the possible alternatives) depending on how things play out..... or, how it could play out as a negative one.
Don't even have to work hard, to see how it could turn out either way.
No one will ever know, of course, whether it is a positive or a negative - since there won't be two petri dish experiments running. Not with any certainty anyway.
positive LOL
Perhaps more to the point, what has Stevens done to earn #1?? Deciding not to transfer shouldn't guarantee you a starting position.
Clifford had better not get injured. No depth. He gets hurt the season is over.
What has Stevens done to earn #1?? Everything asked of him for 4 years. Played multiple positions. Played injured.
Honestly whether it's a critical 4th down call or naming a QB starter, Franklin's lack of decisiveness at critical junctures seems to be an issue.
I didn’t advocate that he should be named the starter dude. Can’t understand however why everyone is so high on Stevens... that is all.
Regardless of him being hurt, you can’t anoint a player as a starter without earning it. Stevens has had more meaningful impact in his chances, but he’s been given more opportunities than Clifford. I hope the best QB gets the starting spot, regardless of seniority.
Because QBs don't want to sit. Guys want what Trace had. So TS only gets 1 year, SC in theory gets 2, therefore the 2019/2020 is not seeing the field for at least 4 seasons until 2022. I bet if you told both 2019 QBs they are not seeing the field until 2022 they likely jump. It is the toughest position to manage on the roster, see Hack junior year. JF would have gone with Trace sooner, but it would have screwed up dynamic of benching #1 QB in country and affected recruiting.
Personally I think TS should have started Michigan game, year may have unfolded differently. I think he is the best QB right now for this system. I think Clifford has the most NFL potential but is a poor fit for this offense. I think it will be square peg, round hole and will be an issue.
I think things will get very interesting after this season at QB.
i agree that in UMich game TS was the better choice for that game. even in Iowa game TS was better choice. also totally agree the JF offense right now cannot have a QB who is not a major run threat. it is not made for a pure passer who cannot occasionally run for more yds than RBs.
