Looking at the states it seems that the worsts states are the southern states. Could it be weather? Education levels? Illegal immigration? Drug abuse levels? Race based? Don’t know but gun ownership rates seem to have little correlation.

No, I don’t believe all gun deaths are done by assault rifles, a small minority are.
Almost every study conducted on the subject shows a correlation in murder rate with gun ownership. The other poster quotes from Fox News one of the few that shows the opposite.
