1) He doesn't deserve it even if he leaves.. 2) He may stay and win the job and lead PSU to a national championship..

Let him explore his options.. like 2 others players did who stayed

Tommy needs to be a starter this year.. If Clifford is that good for Tommy to possibly not beat out then I don't blame him for seeing what's out there.

Can you at least quote the people that are? I don't see a ton of TS bashing here at all....but I imagine twitter could be different knowing some of the clowns here that live on it.

How do people feel about Connie Stevens?

Wish Tommy well wherever he ends up. I do think he would have been smarter to leave last year though.

I have not seen people "rag" on him, of course the players like shelton come right to his defense like "You don't know #2 like we do" and blah blah blah. I think the overwhelming majority realize it has been a tough road for Stevens and a really tight predicament for Franklin. They want what is best for Tommy and the program, but I have not seen people be overly critical of Tommy. The worst I have seen, and only from a few, is "he must be afraid to compete, " which I think is absurd considering he has hung around this program for 4 years.

Stella Stevens looked very nice in "Poseidon Adventure" as Ernest Borgnine's wife.

I agree but Tommys father said tonight in an interview on the Athletic there is no way Tommy is coming back to PSU..father ans tommy talked it over and if they wait until close to Sept and he isnt named the starter he is screwed. So he feels its best to leave now obviously looking for the guarantee he will be the starter ... I guess he is looking at D1-AA as well wherever he can start

If he’s not named the starter over Clifford, as good as he is, then I’m sorry, football isn’t his future.

“He feels like every day from here on out is an audition for the NFL,” Tom Stevens told the CDT.

"He’s a firm believer that he’s going to land on his feet, and that’s the light at the end of the tunnel for him. He’s in a bad place right now mentally, having to make a decision like that. But he’s going to be better for it. ... He wishes things were different. He really does.”

Sounds like a tough decision for him ...

Again, wonder how much of this was Tommy, how much of this was Tommy’s father. We’ll probably never know.....

Agreed...seems like he was popular in the locker room too.

Seems to me Stevens’ father and the coaches might’ve had it out a bit.

I’ll just throw out there that I still hope the outcome of all of this is that Tommy stays at PSU.

I’m afraid we need Peabody’s Wayback Machine for any chance of this happening.

Must have been. If he wanted to leave, the better time for him was last time he checked the market. I respect CJF keeeping the competition for starting QB open and allowing player performance win the day for the good of the team—and being honest about it with the players. Glad he stayed as long as he did but there aren’t many matt kassels playing pro ball.

You act like Clifford is chopped liver... he could transfer somewhere and be an AA, then a high draft pick. Im fine with his leaving, because I think he should have that freedom, not because he wouldn’t add value, even as a backup.

Not at all my insinuation. Clifford probably will be great, but he is still a RS So and if a RS SR can't beat out a RS So then he probably doesn't have a future in football. Stevens best chance is to stay here and compete for the job, that he'd likely win and have a great season. Not many QBs go somewhere pick up a new offense and star. In another thread I mentioned that this isn't Matt Cassel sitting behind a Heisman Trophy winner. I would love for Clifford to win a Heisman, but I don't think that would be likely this year.

Either way we'll be fine, but we'd be in a better position if both Clifford and Stevens showed up in August ready to compete for the job.
