I think both will be productive out of the gate.I was expecting Shorter to be the instant impact freshman at the WR position, but I’m not going to complain if it’s Dotson instead.
I'll settle for another Kenny Jackson type career. JD just might have that "it" factor.
Looks like he ran a ton of WR/bubble screeens in high school and looked unstoppable on those plays. Should be an electric playmaker with the ball in his hands. This kid is another Derrick Williams. They are about the same size and both are just natural football players. They may not have the measurables of the perfect receiver, but all they do is make plays. Like Williams, Dotson could be an impact player on punt returns. Give him the ball in a WR screen or on an end around and watch him break a big play.

Yeah, and listed at 175#, hope he's strong enough, because it sure sounds like he has speed, route running ability, agility, and great hands.More like Kenny Jackson in my opinion.
D-Wills probably didn't meet expectations, but he had a pretty darn good career.Jeebzus.... I hope not.
His senior year Derrick had 4 TDs receiving, 3 rushing, 1 punt return, and 2 KO returns -- 10 TDs total, not Saquon-esque, but pretty darn good indeed.D-Wills probably didn't meet expectations, but he had a pretty darn good career.
He is really quick. When Whitehall played Nazareth last season, they doubled him on every play. It got so ridiculous, Nazareth split him really far to one side, then played 10 on 9 to the other side of the field. The final score was W 51 N 49. The strategy worked, I guess. But it was really hard to watch.
It seemed like he was better as a freshman than was in later years. I wonder if our strength training at the time played a role, or maybe others caught up to him.His senior year Derrick had 4 TDs receiving, 3 rushing, 1 punt return, and 2 KO returns -- 10 TDs total, not Saquon-esque, but pretty darn good indeed.

He was spectacular until he broke his arm. Seemed like that derailed him somehow.
I forgot about that somehow. And it happened against Michigan in the extra 2 second game.He was spectacular until he broke his arm. Seemed like that derailed him somehow.
