Seriously, who would WVU go after? Not that great of a job considering the travel and conference. I’m guessing that need to go up and coming coordinator.

O.K., MONEY. . Still, how does a guy leave wvu for houston? wvu wouldn't match houston to keep holgorsen?

Reports from alums are that Holgersen is making 3.5 mill per year, which the university feels is fair value for the results he is getting. If Houston and uber rich supporter Tilman Fertita offer more WVU may let him walk.

Thanks. It's just an unusual move.

There were reports Houston wants to get into the Big 12, and they felt they needed a coach that would help them be successful. That is what they think. The flip side is that Big 12 ADs feel that UofH is a clown show and there is not push to get them into the conference.

It is crazy to think a coach would leave a P5 conference for.........something.

Its not crazy to think a coach would leave for, I'm assuming, more money and an easier conference. Beat up on sisters of the poor, like ND, and cry about being left out. Go 10-1 in the regular season, beat a weak P5 team in a revenue game, and laugh. I don't know the situation at Houston. They have had success. It sounds like a place ripe for a coach to win some games.

Maumee River Drawbridge.
more likely Phillippi covered bridge....

If you are making 3.5 million in a power 5 conference, is even 6 million worth going backwards? Once you are super rich, money drops further down the list of incentives.

Ok here's is what happened between Holgy and A.D. Lyons. After talking to many of the old guard at the Wvu bb game yesterday the consensus was Holgy told Lyons what he wanted in an extension.Lyons told Holgy what he was willing to give,Holgy didn't like it and Lyons won't budge. So Holgy started looking for a home (Texas Tech) now Houston. Most down here agree with the AD on Holgersen's worth. We know next year looks bleak and many feel new blood is needed in the football program.

Yes, you take 6M to coach Houston over 3.5 at WVU. Either way you're never going to win a national title. Even when you're "super rich" you aren't going to pass on an opportunity to nearly double your salary.

No thanks we don't have a week division in the Big12 where he can win with his putrid recruits!
