Dwayne Haskins

"But after he violated another COVID-19 protocol -- he wasn't wearing a mask at his girlfriend's birthday party where more than 10 people were present -- he was fined $40,000 and stripped of his captaincy. Then, Sunday, he was benched."

Wasn’t it his girlfriend birthday party? That is what I think I heard on wmal. That makes sense you have strippers at your girlfriend birthday party.

Or, if your girlfriend *is* a stripper...

LOL. Honestly, you would think that the premiere athletic league in America would have a better system in place to develop (or at a minimum, evaluate) the most important position in the sport. Drafting a QB in the first round will make you look like a fool more than 50% of the time.

Wow, did not see that coming.

Then they made him a captain after this.

There is a direct correlation between the Wunderlick test and being a successful NFL quarterback.

Yeah, but at what point does Wunderlick score get you diminishing returns? The highest Wunderlick scores ever by QBS:

Ryan Fitzpatrick - 48
Greg McElroy - 48
Jason Maas - 43
Blaine Gabbert - 42
Drew Henson - 42

Then these guys:

Tom Brady - 33
Steve Young - 33

Then these guys:

Jameis Winston - 27
Ben Roethlisberger - 25
Baker Mayfield - 25

Terry Bradshaw - 15
Donovan McNabb - 14
Lamar Jackson - 13
Terelle Pryor - 7

I can't believe Bradshaw scored that high, and thats coming from a Steeler fan.

Haskins hasn’t been that bad on the field, so he must be the laziest and most terrible teammate possible to get cut like this. Remember, he was seated because Snyder liked him, and for Snyder to sour on him so quickly he must be a complete train wreck.

I think this is an indication that it’s now Rivera’s team.

You make a good point. If I were an NFL GM I would want to see college transcripts and what courses they took. I know the response will be they are fake courses upon which in the interview I would ask specific questions regarding the courses.

Do you have a source for Bradshaw's score?

Honestly, these guys should be studying and playing football 100% of the time if that is going to be their chosen profession. It makes zero sense for someone like Lamar Jackson to major in Criminal Justice when he's going to be a first round draft pick. Want to get better at football? Play and study it - all the time. You don't force a future cellist to play a varsity sport; why force a future football player to study anything other than what he's going to earn his living doing? You can have classes on football history, labor unions, financial literacy, modern defenses and how to beat them, offensive strategies and philosophies, football statistics, etc.

They wouldn't bail on him for the strip club nonsense and the bad game yesterday alone. Rivera must have hated haskins beforehand. Unreal....

I don’t disagree with you I guess I am still old school believing that maybe going to college means something regarding growing your knowledge and extending yourself. I know I am naive.

I mean, if you don't make the NFL, you can use the degree in 'football studies' to be a coach, GM, trainer, AD, etc. Most pro/college coaches and ADs are former athletes. Few players are 'growing their knowledge and extending themselves' as it is; might as well let them study something they're interested in. Even Sandy Barbour is where she is because of athletics.

They should have a mix of business + marketing + finance + sports science. They are set for life if they get through one contract cycle and are wise with their money.

From CBS sports website about the Woderlic test...

These days you hear it most talked about around this time of year, regarding the NFL Combine. It has been used in the Navy and to determine IQs, but in the 1970s Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry began quizzing players with the test, and it has been done in the league ever since.

Bradshaw was drafted in 1970

This article says he got a 16 (Sports Illustrated). Certainly not a test taker that one. But, didn't have to be (I'm a lifelong Stillers fan).

Among quarterbacks that scored well below their position average of 24 are Terry Bradshaw (16), Dan Marino (15) and Jim Kelly (15), all of whom had Hall of Fame careers. Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair and Daunte Culpepper all excelled in the NFL at the quarterback position despite not faring well on the Wonderlic.

How about Cardale Jones? LOL. Remember his genius quote?

“We ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS"
I would be willing to wager that he outscored Pryor. He was just talking about not going to class. Pryor was of the belief that we all kill people.

But didn't Urban the genius leader, molder of men all around great person mentor his academic progress at O$U and ensure he was performing as a stellar student?

Does that mean Haskins isn’t starting or the WFT next year? đŸ¤”
You all recall that weak arm 50/50 ball thrower from Penn State who is still in the league?
Hmmm

You are right. He scored a 25 -- maybe the bigger denominator here is Ohio State, not the wonderlic.

I'd be willing to bet a bunch of teams will be eager to kick the tires on him, including the one in New England.

It’s why I thought Washington would try to get a 7th rounder or conditional pick of some sorts for him this offseason. Guess they really wanted him out of the building today.

Yes, which is why I was so taken aback. I’m guessing that something happened overnight or this morning. Haskins was very bad yesterday, though.
