Early commitments

I was just looking at TOM's commitments page and saw that Yianni Diakomihalis committed to Cornell on 11/10/14, almost 3 years before enrolling there. Top, top recruit and I don't remember much fuss being raised about it at the time.

Is it just because he was from NY state, where guys don't seem to get noticed? He certainly had amazing credentials.

Btw, Cameron Coy wasn't far behind Yianni in committing to Virginia.

You're mistaken. It was a big deal in the wrestling community, and was discussed on multiple boards. As I recall, the indications before he verballed were that he was a strong lean to Cornell, so that may have tempered some of the discussion.

^This along with the fact that I believe his biggest accolade (Cadet World Gold) came after he announced.
