Easter Bunny Crashes Franklin's party...

Not too shabby. Lowered the shoulder, wrapped his arms, and took it to the ground. Now if he could just get the defensive backs to tackle like that. ;)

Zettel had better form when that tree attacked him. Franklin needs to pay attention to Coach Chaos' practice sessions.

Really?

This is embarrasing....almost Harbaugh-like. It's past time for Franklin to stop the gimmicks and focus on being just an adequate football coach.

Does he really represent what PSU football has become? CJF is an overpaid juvenile.

I'm not even dead and I'm already rolling over in my grave over his piss/poor game day coaching coupled with his endless stream of off-field gimmicks.

That's a great line. I'm going to put it in my memory bank for future use.

It just came to me after watching that embarrassing video clip.
I see your point, but the clip itself didn't bother me as much as it did you. I do think if it was Harbaugh we'd be all over him for it, and I do agree Franklin has to be careful so as not to turn into a standing joke.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the video was from a private party for his kids at his home, right? It wasn't some recruiting trip or some official function. There's a difference between a dad goofing around with his kids verses doing goofy stuff like sleepovers etc at official university functions.

I don't see it the same as the Harbaugh nonsense and frankly if Harbaugh did the same while goofing around with his kids I'd have no problem with it either. Don't get me wrong- I think Franklin has to step up this year with the coaching and results but I don't see this as a big deal.

Makes it worse.

Piñata tradition calls for the "kids", while blindfolded, to beat same with sticks until the piñata finally breaks. Tradition doesn't include middle aged men dressed up as an Easter Bunny tackling a piñata.

Franklin has successfully out-Harbaughed Jim on this one by insisting on being the "whare (attention whore + hare) of attention" instead of letting the kids participate in the whole piñata thing. So typical of CJF.

Maybe this old guy doesn't get it, but what is the fuss about? Franklin didn't don the suit at a recruit's home; it appears he is at his own family's Easter party. Is the criticism based on his tackling the piñata rather than hitting it with a stick?

Franklin is a football coach, so he used a football thing. Maybe if he coached hockey he would have used a hockey stick. Big deal. I don't understand all the negativity towards Coach Franklin. He's too positive ... He ruined Hackenberg ... He can't coach ... He can't manage the clock ... He can't recruit DTs or LBs ... He tackles a piñata at a family party.

Well, I like the guy. I think he proved he can coach and has shown he can recruit. I don't blame him at all for Hackenberg's inept play. Every coach from the deified Meyer and Saban to the mythologized O'Brien made perceived errors managing the clock. And I think it's kind of funny that he tackled the piñata instead of beating it to death.

Well, I think we're going to agree to disagree on this one. ;)

I get what you're saying and I'd be lying if I didn't say your same thoughts/ concerns ran through my mind initially as well. It's just that I would hesitate to question the family dynamics and what any mom or dad would think would be more fun or funny for their kids (at least with only knowing 1 isolated incident).

To me, even if I disagree with him tackling the piñata rather than letting the kids break it, it's his call as he knows the family dynamic much more than I do. That's a totally different (and much more lenient) issue for me compared with Harbaugh's actions while 'on the clock' for the university.

I agree that I don't see the tackling of the piñata as a big deal. That said, I do think there are legitimate and fair questions about his coaching. I think only time will tell if they were the result of depleted talent level/ sanctions, a result of poor assistant coaches, or a real concern about Franklin.

Please tell me you have a sense of humor and are just kidding with your comments Peetz. Pinata tradition is for patient kids...oh wait they don't exist.

Impatient children are a product of their non-parents. Attention-seeking parents are inexcusably narcissistic.

Attention-seeking football coaches appear to be...........

I have my opinions but I'll defer to others.

I call bullshit on this peetz....you are reaching here just because it suits your agenda....attack CJF whenever possible. This had zero to do with recruiting or competetive advantage. Just a dad having fun. Ever heard of this thing called fun?

I'm with you on this. We are living in different times for sure. Can you even imagine Joe or Woody or Bo or Bear doing something like that??

We have no idea what Joe did to play with this kids back in the 1960's or 1970's. No social media/cellphones or other manner in which to capture every living, breathing moment.

This whole thread is ridiculous - here is a man with two young daughters - and he is having fun with them in the way he and his family have fun. Yet, those who are agenda driven look for any angle to support their agenda. None of the kids were upset, none of the other parents were upset, and no one got hurt. The man is just having some fun with his kids, and he is entitled to do so - regardless of what you think of him as a coach, person or human being.

Let. It. Go.
