Ed Ruth is 2-0 in MMA

Like most former Div I elites, Ed is going to dominate on athleticism alone in these early level fights. I'm not so sure he can win at the top levels; hope I'm wrong.

I don't watch enough MMA to assess how far he can go but Ed's awareness of positioning in tie-ups (and all the MMA fights I've seen tie up) gives him a huge advantage. Here, right after he gets in on the legs, where a lot of guys go straight through, letting the guy on bottom scissor their legs around the waist, Ed swings his hips to the right like you would set up a cradle. Guy's legs are nullified and Ed ends it shortly after.

...he landed 13 right hand blows in less than 10 seconds!...
...I would not want to have been on the receiving end of that barrage...
...I was happy the ref stopped it...

Talked to ed several times, never thought of him as a fighter.

Swing and a miss on my part.
Me and my two sons had a short conversation with him in DesMoines. I agree 100%. He was incredibly friendly with a smile that made you instantly like him on a personal level.

I also think that can be an advantage, he never seems to be really angry and can remove emotion from the sport.
Either way, I will always be a fan.

Totally agree too. I've met Ed twice and there is something about him that makes you warm up to him immediately. When he finishes his MMA career, Ed would do well to consider a career in sales. His easygoing personality would give him a huge advantage in that field.

Glad to see Ed start out his career so well. I think he can be a UFC champion one day but he obviously has a long way to go to do that. It can't hurt to be training with Jon Jones all the time.

Does anyone know where Ed is training now?

They announced him as being out of Fresno, but I believe that was an error and that is just where his agent (Zinkin) is based. He trained most of the year in Phoenix and then it sounds like his plan is closer to fight dates he will train in San Jose at AKA under Javier and Cook. He's in good company training there with guys like Rockhold, DC and Cain. I would be surprised if he doesn't move there to train year around. Can't argue with the results they've had at AKA.

This makes me curious at what Aaron Pico is up to these days.

Also, FYI, former Minnesota wrestler Logan Storley is now 4-0 in MMA.

I didn't realized Ruth changed camps.

I looked for info on where Pico is training but he may be doing his own camp. I don't think he has a fight announced yet either. So who knows what he's up to.

I don't know where he's at now but I know he moved after the trials were over

Can Pico do mma and still be eligible for the olympics? I thought I read that 2020 was his goal for olympics
