Ed Ruth takes first loss

He was exhausted. He could not control Gracie on the ground and constant submission grips. His strikes hit early....then failed while getting hit.

He’ll learn.

Neiman Gracie looked good. They certainly had a gameplan for Ed. Constantly threatened with a variety of submissions. I was suspicious when Ed dropped in weight if he could go 5 rounds cutting that much. Guess we got the answer. He gassed hard.

The weight cut made Ed looked sickly. He was gassed early in the third.

Ruth needs to stick with his strong suit: wrestling. No one can beat him there in MMA. He has developed other skills but those are secondary.

Well...it was exaclty the floor where Ed was in trouble all night. Gracie constantly had Ed in submission grips. Ed needed to stay off the ground and strike as he is excellent there too. Until.....that didn’t work either after working too hard to keep from ground trouble.

Then between the weight cut and only once going even 3 rounds, he was gassed for the 4th. He will learn. He will be back. Undefeated mma fighters are nearly as rare as unicorns.

I don't think Ruth was prepared for such an experienced jiu-jitsu attack . Gracie kicked the snot out of Ruth. Boxing only against BJJ usually does not go well.
