Espn desperately still trying to bring PSU down

We are too soft skinned about ESPN and Penn State. It is a very valid point that Temple and Villanova had draft picks and we had none. How often does that happen?
How many draft picks if players had not chosen to forgo their Senior season?
The draft is one hell of a commentary on the job Franklin has done as a recruiter and coach. The team's success has been with underclassmen and a few seniors. What a recruiting job. What a coaching job.
Totally agree. Espn doesn't have it out for psu. They are looking for ratings. It's why they try to make Joe pa the center of the scandal. More people will pay attention to that.

Screw ESPN. The draft picks will come next year, for sure. The Lions had a pretty young team last year.

Consider the alternative. Cal has had a lot of players drafted, quite a few of them highly. But the Bears are never better than mediocre. I would trade one hundred Aaron Rodgers', Marshawn Lynch's and Tony Gongalez's for just one Rose Bowl.

And I was always under the impression it was a college coach's job to win in college. I guess that's silly of me. I would rather have Tim Tebow as QB of my college team than Tom Brady. I guess our 94 team should give back its Big 10 title and undefeated season because Ki Jana had a bad pro career. Pitt brags about all these players they have in the NFL yet they can't even win the worst division in college football.

they had a graphic to point out that temple and Villanova had draft picks and PSU had zero. It's laughable as they cherry pick things to try and bring us down.

I didn't get worked up over this all weekend...because I haven't turned on ESPN since THE day.

Yeah, this thread had me thinking of Pitt as well. Plenty of impressive pro alums, but not much team success to show for it.

If you want to know why they hate PSU so much, look to the top. Al Jaffe, Tony Kornheiser, Kit Hoover, etc. Then look to their non-on camera staff: Mostly Syracuse and Northwestern graduates.

You bring up an interesting point that I cannot fully understand. I get that "older" Syracuse alums would dislike Penn State and JoePa because the Orange lost its status as Beast of the East to PSU and Joe in the late 60s. Prior to 1968, Syracuse was a national player, winning a title in 1959 and producing a series of superstar RBs like Jim Brown, Ernie Davie, Floyd Little, and Larry Czonka. Once Joe established Penn State as a national power with those 1968-69 squads, Syracuse was basically done.

But goodness gracious, Syracuse has been a football non-factor since then, a span of nearly 50 years. Why would current Syracuse grads at ESPN still hate Penn State football? Heck, PDSU is clearly miles behind SU in "their" sport. I do not mean to imply you are wrong; I just don't understand why the Syracuse hatred of the Nittany Lions still exists.

And as to Northwestern ... what would their axe to grind be with Penn State?

They do these things all the time. It not some conspiracy to bring Penn State down.

Same reason WVU fans still hate us and we haven't played them since 91. It's ingrained in them.

And, there were extenuating reasons for Penn State's low draft selection results, the majority of our starters were freshmen, sophomores and juniors, and, the sanctions had a crippling effect on our recruiting class 4 years ago. C'mon, this was a blatant cheap shot. Did ESPN make this comparison with anyone else?

WVU fans don't hate Penn State! They hate Pitt and Marshall not Penn State. When the all time record is 48-9-2 the team with 9 wins doesn't consider the team with 48 wins a rival!

Boy are you wrong. They do hate Pitt and Marshall, but they also hate Penn State because we always beat them. And WVU does consider us a rival because they're delusional.
