This event has slowly but surely become one of the best events in the country. I would say it’s close to being the toughest Pa tournament of the year. Closing in our Powerade. I can’t wait for the action. This is becoming my favorite event of the year. Always well organized by a fellow BWI board member.

107
The Return of Dillard. How is Sirianni still at 107. Ayden smith is always a tough out at 107.

114
Desmond wins another title but with Blair dropping down the line up it throws a curve ball with deluca. The much anticipated varsity debut of Littleton. Malvern is high on this kid and he must have finally beat out Muterilli. Littleton upsets some good kids here.

121
MAM drops down low. Pa’s jacaruso is 2 seed with knox at three. Last year those two battled on the mat with Jac winning and then fighting in the hall with Jac winning that too. Botero will be a dark horse here. He reminds me of the Davino from IL.

127
What the heck. How is Oneill at 6. He looked amazing at Powerade after a tough Ironman. He will be looking to cradle everyone.

132
Perry Vs Consaglio. Finals

139
This is the toughest bracket in the event. Rath, Pierson, Barnhart, mason Hunter, Simcox, Nini and Bouyssou at 8. My pick is Manville after dropping one at Powerade. He hasn’t taken off his headgear since and I guarantee training hard with Dave.

145
Stein pulls off a huge upset. He will make some noise.

The uppers aren’t as solid. They have a few thought kids in each weight.

Then HWT is a real tough 285
Mullins, Robell, Neve and Pav.
Neve wins and beats Mullins

Mutarelli made the semis at powerade then MFF out. My guess is he is hurt and LLM is getting a chance to fill in

Can you point me to the brackets? Can’t find them on track or Flo

This event has slowly but surely become one of the best events in the country. I would say it’s close to being the toughest Pa tournament of the year. Closing in our Powerade. I can’t wait for the action. This is becoming my favorite event of the year. Always well organized by a fellow BWI board member.

@BrockBronson did a good job here. A couple of my comments:

107 - DeKraker is a monster. The potential Smith-Dillard semi would be fun. #14 McGinty is probably a sleeper here but didn't have many seeding points.

114 - Mutarelli still hurt - Littleton in, not much drop-off. Unseeded Chris Dennis could make some noise

121 - Pretty nuts weight - all through #9 have been nationally ranked and don't sleep on #12 Spaulding

127 - I hear you about O'Neill but he's got two returning ETR champs and a finalist ahead of him, plus two nails guys who have just dropped from 133. Another crazy weight when you have nationally ranked Jackson Young and Trey Wagner seeded #9 and 10. Eren Sement seeded at #8, I have to shake my head at my own seeding but what can you do?

133 - Perry and Consiglio lead the pack but Hart will be a tough out.

139 - Probably the deepest weight in the tournament. Eight kids are nationally ranked and we could easily see a couple of them not make the quarters. The round of 16 at this weight is going to be really good.

145 - Collin Gaj has been top 10 in the country and could win it but is seeded 6th. But he's got the #2 kid in the country at 150 (Henckel), the returning ETR champ (Dupill), an Ironman finalist (Cartella), and Bouzakis (Beast & NP champ) ahead of him. Plus George, who beat him H-T-H and finished higher than him at ETR last year. Then you have Asher, Stein, Fuller, Walizer, Scanlan, and Yannis Charles (2x SC champ who just beat George the other day). Another great round of 16 here.

152 - Not a star-studded field but I like it because it is going to be very unpredictable. Weidemoyer could break out here and I'm interested to see if #11 Heard and #12 Gautreau make some noise.

160 - The top 8 are really solid here. Hipolito is a kid who is under the radar but really good. Lots of familiarity among the top 10 so look for some upsets. Bek is on his home turf so I'm expecting good things this weekend.

172 - If you haven't seen Adam Waters yet, prepare to be impressed. Garcia and Waters would be a great final. Nevlin has been up and down but is capable of knocking off anyone.

189 - I'm very interested to see Marzolino here - seems like he jumped levels in the offseason and he hasn't been tested yet this year. #6 Anthony Harris is a very good underclassman as well.

215 - Dillon Bechtold bumping up to try out 215 - probably a precursor to the postseason if he handles it well. Lachman is an under-the-radar kid as well, and could win it all.

285 - The top 4 are clear cut and the Neves-Robell semi should be fun. Beyond the top 4, there are a couple of youngsters in Roy and Davis that could find the podium.

Cameras? Will we be watching little army men?

Thank you for the insight dicemen, seeding talent like this has to be tough. Put the top 8 in round robin and you would have 5 kids all with 2 or 3 losses. Not much separation in the field in many weight classes

Yes and no. We have a pretty tried and true system that gives kids points three ways - highest postseason placement weighted according to state, highest significant tournament placing (again weighted), and significant wins. This gets the kids into tiers and then we discuss the kids within tiers giving weight to ETR finishes, the latest results, and head-to-heads. The point system usually gets us 80% to 90% there. The hardest thing about it is tracking the kids results - we do this throughout their careers (even Junior High). Many thanks to trackwrestling, PA-wrestling, and Flo Arena. Sometimes we miss results but I think we get 95% right - most of the time it's something from this past Saturday or this past week that gets missed because of the time crunch.

I'm happy to answer any questions about specific seedings as we like to be transparent about the process. And sometimes we make mistakes, and sometimes there is really no difference between 4 or 5 kids and it could be argued either way. But we have a pretty good track record of seeding.

This is why your event is top tier and keeps getting better. Great insight above. I am looking forward to this one. 121 and 138 will be worth the price of admission to see them play out.

I was planning on making my first ETR visit this year. Family stuff just interfered with those plans. So I will be hoping Flo actually works.

I see multiple people picking MAM over Knox but I don’t see it. Knox is so much more dynamic. I’m sure it will be close because pretty much every MAM match is close but I just have a hard time seeing Knox lose to anyone other than Bassett, Jax, or Lilledahl right now

Everyone had the same feeling last year going into ETR and he squeaked by Botero and then lost to Jacaruso in the finals.

He's done most of his damage at 113 or lower and he's at 124 then 125 on the second day - I won't be surprised if he's really challenged in the semis and, of course, in the finals. Possibly even in the quarters with the right matchup if the brackets change because of a few scratches. There will be some pretty big kids in his bracket if the cut doesn't get to them.

I agree with this above. There is a reason Psu didn’t go all in on him. I wish him the best but he stalls, takes injury times and doesn’t seem to be able to last a whole match without a break.

Are we sure Knox beats Jacaruso this time?

Are you talking about Jacaruso or Knox? I feel like you are referencing Jacaruso with this, although at ETR last year Jacaruso took it to both Link and Knox late not the other way around.

But I don't think either is your prototypical PSU recruit to put it diplomatically. ;)

He was talking about McGowan. You don't see Knox as a PSU guy?

Great picks wrestlingfan22. I see you guys doing well. I like Waters over Garcia but most won’t agree with us. The state dual finals could come down to that match too. Weidemoyer, Stein and Hontz are young but very tough. Do you think you guys have enough to knock off NDGP this year? I said yes at the beginning of the year but next thing we know they bring in Bouzakis mid semester.

Weidemoyer, Stein and Hontz are young but very tough. Do you think you guys have enough to knock off NDGP this year? I said yes at the beginning of the year but next thing we know they bring in Bouzakis mid semester.
I think the dual meet matchup will come down to which coaches have better weight class strategy and a few toss ups. States will probably depend on 145 and 172, also which non stars end up on the podium (i.e. the Nazareth blueprint from last season)

It’s going to be a close race now with their new addition. Who knows if any other teams make prep pickups until then. That could change things drastically

Yes, Vigilante is good. As a freshman, he did not have enough seeding points when we met on Saturday. Too bad his win over Venet didn't happen last week.

No McGowan, no jacaruso. Darn
Yeah, I just went and looked at the brackets and 121 while still good isn’t near as interesting. Knox, Botero, and Link is a nice top 3 but I’m pretty sure that MAM and Jacaruso were the top 2 seeds. Any info on why they aren’t competing?

The 139 quarters are super tough
Rath vs Bouyssou
Simcox vs Mason
Barnhart vs Nini
Rozynski vs Manville

That’s a really good quarterfinal round. Bouyssou is the kid who beat Nick Bouzakis a couple years ago I believe. I see Manville coming out of the bottom but on top I think any one of those 4 could do it
