Evgeni Malkin's home was burglarized. Stanley Cup rings stolen

He apparently lives in Sewickley Heights outside the burg.

Sewickley Heights is a great place to live for Penguins players because it's basically between the airport and the practice facility in Cranberry, with easy access to I-79. I drive past the exit to Sewickley Heights on I-79 on my home from work. Mario Lemieux lives in Sewickley.

This same thing happened to Joe Burrow recently.

Sidney Crosby also lives there. I'm surprised that these guys don't have better security.

Wow! Can't these rich athletes and celebs afford decent security systems? Even if these low life burglars breach the exterior of the house with weak locks and windows....the police should be there within a matter of minutes with a solid security system.......shouldn't they?

If I had millions of dollars and an expensive home in a toney neighborhood the first thing I would do was install an elite security system. Not just to protect my material wealth when I'm not there, but more importantly to protect my family when I am there.

Initial report makes it sound different. Burglars walked in straight to an unlocked safe and took the rings. Allegedly nothing else touched.

The other high profile burglars trashed the house looking for valuables.

The other guys were victimized by an alleged organization perhaps out of South Africa. Malkin’s seems more opportunistic.

Agreed - how many stories about crazies or robbers just walking into celebs houses and stealing hundreds of thousand worth of stuff - no security no safes?

False alarm. Police initially believed the rings were stolen but they were now found in the home. Also, doesn’t everyone have security systems? Some are not all that expensive and you can install them yourself.

This sounds a bit sketchy, possible insurance fraud attempt? Unlocked safe, rings "found" elsewhere in house.

Give me a break. Yeah, Evgeni Malkin is an insurance fraudster. We’re not talking about politicians. Evgeni Malkin has earned about $150,000,000 in his career and is making $6,000,000 this season. I would say the chances he is committing insurance fraud with his Stanley Cup rings is less than zero.

Malkin is probably in the lower income bracket of Sewickley Heights residents if that gives you any idea what that area looks like. It's secluded and there is no route that takes you there unless you want to go there. There is generation wealth in Sewickley Heights. 100 year old estate mansions.
