I hope I could explain my point the right way, so I dont sound stupid.
We always in general here about players, obviously young players that seem like they could be really good, but you'll hear "Well they dont have any game experience yet." Well once you play them than they have that experience. DAH!
It just was in the old days, and not just Paterno and PSU, but CFB in generall, you wouldn't see these kids getting experience till there at least half way thru there Sophomore year, and sometimes it was limited.
I know we have been forced to play young players fast, because of our situation. If a player shows promise I think the quicker you could get that player ready and get him experience, you and that player are off to a quicker shot.
Is there something wrong with that? I dont think so. You wonder why they didn't do this more in the old days.
