I was with my Dad in Philly in 2011. He had witnessed our last NCAA title back in the 50’s. Our seats for the semi’s were fantastic but right in the heart of the Cornell section. I’ll never forget the Q. Wright standing cradle pin and my Dad’s look of joy! Cael was a bit excited as well. Our post match dinner and drinks and the big smile on his face I will always treasure. He is gone now but what a great memory! This is what makes sports so special.

We lucked into great seats for the tournament in Cleveland and when Bo flipped the script on MyMar it was insane. I also really enjoyed Cenzo v. Imar 2 that evening.

Hard to pick one favorite...

But Bo pinning Kolin Moore is up there for me. I went into that dual in peak PSU pessimism mode, assuming it would be a loss. That match was the culmination of what had been building all night, beginning with RBY and Nick Lee.

It was a great night when I was expecting it to be the opposite.

Edit: And now I'm realizing the title of this thread is favorite LIVE match. Nevermind.

Hard to pick just one. However, after a disastrous quarter final round in Philly Q's fall over Gambrall and a number of other wins we went from thinking we had no chance at the team title to pretty much having it clinched. HUGE night for the team and a huge win for Q.

IDK. The 2018 team win over Ohio State in the dual at Rec Hall sort of dwarfs everything else.
Agree 100%. With Nolf out, the Bucknuts were favorites on paper. As each bout progressed the excitement grew ever louder until it simply roared continuously. I had seen a good number of great duels over 40+ years, but, our win over the guys in Red Bathrobes was epic!

#2. Tell me I wasn’t the only one in Rec Hall when Zain beat Steiber? That place was complete bedlam... the building was literally shaking.

#1. I was sitting in the 200 level with my brother, who was attending his first NCAA tournament. When MyMar took Bo to his back we glanced at each other like “oh shat”. We looked back... “Oh, he’s got the chin.”

You werent, those last 2 minutes took HOURS.

I'm with Gray, on the individual match of Zain and Steiber that was amazing and great coaching with it. Best Dual was Ohio State in 2018.

I have been to 15 or 16 NCAAs and the best wrestling was at MSG. Almost Every match was great and enjoyable as a fan. I also think is was an amazing motivator to our guys.

The crescendo started building halfway through period 2 when we realized Zeiber wasn't getting off the bottom. It just increased the whole 3rd period and overtime. Blew the damn roof off Rec Hall.

I've only been able to see PSU live in MN once. They dropped a close dual. I actually sat behind the PSU bench in the MN student section, as a buddy got me and a guy who traveled over from college in La Crosse a couple of spots to sit in there. Of course the college kids were having fun, and I looked like a jackass in a PSU hoodie in the sea of maroon and gold. One guy was heckling McIntosh pretty good, telling him it was "Schiller Time!" and MM just kinda looked back and smirked.

MM upset him and it was awesome.

It was my sons first match at Rec Hall and it was a match for the ages... that may never have an equal. When we were counting down the seconds to Nick Nevills NOT getting majored by Kyle Snyder, my son said to me over the deafening roar in Rec Hall... "This has to be the match of the century". I said... Jack... sweetheart... there is no doubt as I lifted him skyward.

The Ohio State dual that year has to be one of the best duals ever. I didn't see it live, but I was watching it real time on BTN with someone who has pretty close connections to the team. We were in a sports bar/restaurant and jumped up cheering when Nick took Snyder down at the beginning of the match. Got a lot of looks from the other customers, but who cares.

This years dual with Iowa was pretty good too. Didn't quite turn out in our favor, but we served notice that even an injury depleted Penn State team was something to be reckoned with.

Jordan Conaway over Johnni DiJulius at the BJC in (I think) 2016. DiJulius got out to a respectable lead only for Conaway's persistence and pace to wear him down. Jordan rode out the third and had a big smile on his face, as Tom Ryan looked on in disgust....

Agreed, that place is mesmerizing. That night was unforgettable, even with Nolf and Nickal’s losses.

Greatest live moment in High School that I witnessed was Kolat's last match in State finals. His opponent had a single on him and was elevating leg and he did a a back flip ,caught the kids ankle and scored his 2.

Greatest High school match was Regionals when Crawford from Milton was going for his 4th title and had only lost his very 1st match and had won 120+ in a row. Dan Tashner from Nazareth who also was great scrambler went toe to toe with Crawford and beat him 12-11?

Keep in mind I haven't seen a lot of college matches in person. The greatest college bout I saw in person was Darryl Burrley who was a true freshmen from Lehigh wrestled Randy Lewis from Iowa. Match was at Grace Hall. Burrley lost 14-13. Action from whistle to whistle.

That's another good question- What match did you watch at a bar where everyone looked at you like you were nuts?

For me it's Hall beating Zahid in the dual last year, that was an epic ride. I was with my brother and there was one more guy watching on the other side of the bar. The three of us were yelling while everybody else was trying to figure out what was going on.

I had to go to a sports bar this year for the Big Tens as my cable system doesn't carry that network. Your post made me think of past Big Tens. Years ago, I'd go down to my parents house and my mother, 82 years of age along with my father would watch the finals with me. They had Comcast. She enjoyed watching it very much and knew the team from heart.

By that time she saw hundreds of matches with her two grandchildren taking the mat from youth through college.

I remember watching the Ohio State from hospital bed on a Saturday night. For 2 plus hours it made me have forget the previous 36 hours. I went in for total hip replacement, on Friday morning. When I awoke, it was discovered that my left side of my face and my tongue were showing stroke symptoms. I was transferred to Neuro. Between all the brain test , intial rehab for hip,and my overall anxiety about the unknown I hardly slept. I asked nurse to help move TV to bed around 6pm that Saturday. That match was the best therapy I could of have.
I got sent home that Sunday in a snowstorm and watched the Superbowl that night.
They never determined what caused the issue. The scans came back negative on finding anything in my head;). I had go see specialist about my tongue and do rehab on facial muscles including speech therapy. The Doctor thought that my Cranial nerve was damaged from air device. As of today I have probably recovered 95%.
I truly needed that 2+ hours of wrestling and the results at that moment of my life.:)
