I KNOW, for a fact, every one of you is supportive, and 100% behind EVERY wrestler on the Penn State roster, win or lose, right?

Ok, this is not about them. At our core, we are PSU wrestling fans, but all of us, my experience, enjoy good wrestling, in general. So, which wrestlers from OTHER TEAMS, this coming season, are your favorites to watch?

P.S. Again, I KNOW who you'll be rooting for if they come up against a PSU guy ... this is only about their wrestling skills and abilities.

Hidlay
Wick
Gable
Mekhi (sp) (although he is RSing)
Zahid
Carr

I'm with CT, Zahid, Kem, and Gross are favorites.

For me also, looking forward to seeing what Rivera and Mueller do. Real Woods and David Carr are my others to watch.

Good lists. Mine;

Zahid (but how in the world will he hold 184, HE'S HUGE ;););););););););););))
Spencer (a bit like Zain, in that he can turn guys by brute strength, when they don't want to be turned)
Hayden & Trent Hidlay (know the family)
Jordan Wood (know the family)
Evan Wick (impression after a couple years -- is there a more respectful wrestler, whether win or lose?)

I like your list. I would add Yianni and Gross to it.

Grip likes Antknee - living that Jersey Toothpick Life!

pretty soon we’ll have him calling spaghetti sauce, gravy

Shirting this year but give me Micic. Good pace, good tank, tactician, and adept at making in-match adjustments.

McKenna graduated, but I could watch him and Nick Lee go all day long.

I, too, am very interested in Trent Hidlay. I think he will impress early and often.

Desanto.....especially the last 15 seconds of a match and beyond, never know what's gonna happen.lol. Always moving forward.

Seth Gross, great top game.

Zahid, just so damned smooth.

Spencer Lee, when he doesn't have the flu. Flat out dominant.

Guys mentioned above that caught my eye:

Joseph Smith -- Has had a challenging career thus far, would be nice to see him put something together; seems to be a class act on the mat; family legacy.

Hayden Hidlay -- Just a physical
specimen, and I have a soft spot for the ACC.

Austin DeSanto -- I got this coach. The Angus Young of NCAA Wrestling. He's a bit out there, but you gotta love the relentless pressure.

Deuce Rachal -- Looks sorta
like a guy I know, and "getting Rachaled" has just become a fun pastime.

Other guys I'd like to follow, in no particular order:

Brock Mauller -- How can you not want to watch a wrestler with that name?

Ethan Smith -- Underdog with some flashes of goodness last year.

Mason Parris -- A little big guy who really gets after it.

Zach Elam -- A little big guy who could make a jump.

Mikey Labriola -- Another guy that showed some grit last year and could still be on the rise.

Austin O'Connor -- Can UNC have a champ? That would be cool.

Patrick Brucki -- A Princeton guy who can really pick things up and put them down.

Cameron Caffey -- A raw guy that shows some good pace and stellar athleticism. Doing all in his power to get the Minkel outta MSU.

Matt Stencel -- He's huge. He knocks dudes down and pins them.

Alex Marinelli -- Can he be even more intense this season? Relentless pressure and looks to grind guys down into submission.

Luke Pletcher -- Just kidding.

Right on about Evan Wick, one of my favorites. Its really sad that his brother had so many injuries. And of course, the other Cali guy, Zahid, is pretty good. And I'm really curious how Anthony will do now that he's allowed to eat again.

Looking Forward to Seeing
  • David Carr
  • Andrew Alirez
  • Greg Kerkvliet
  • Sammy Sasso
  • Real Woods
Already Enjoy
  • Taylor Venz
  • Hayden Hidlay
  • Dom Demas
  • Sebastian Rivera
  • Spencer Lee
  • Austin Desanto
  • Austin Gomez
  • Gable Steveson—but only when he’s interested in scoring, and so far disappointed in how rare that is.

No evidence, just thinking out loud. A heavier Anthony, with what I consider confidence issues several years ago behind him may be a tough out for anyone.

Nebraska's, Mike Labriola. Lehigh Valley kid who wrestled tough and looks to score. He will give Hall a tough match this year. He hung with Hall last year as a freshman.

I almost hate to say it since he's Zain's problem now but Yanni just friggin amazes me. He has a different style and can do Gumby things that no one else out there can even imagine. Whatching him is beginning to look like the past 4 years watching Nolf where I would question 'did I just see that'?

The greatest part of that is seeing the look on the opponent's face, knowing in his mind he is thinking 'I had him, how the hell did that just happen'?

Dont look now but I have a feeling Echemendia may have something for BOTH of these guys come April.

It's possible—I’d like to think he has some maturing to do before he’s on that level—but he’s clearly a level above his peers, so who knows.... As Gibbons likes to opine, guys show up.
