This is the first step to make this happen. It makes a lot more sense than the current system. It would also make sense to end the playoff season in the first week of January to create a more coherent calendar, but I have not heard of that type of proposal at this point. Our situation with Pribula is referenced in the article.

Without a change to the playoff calendar the Pribula situation would have happened for the Semis.
I am still struggling to understand the operational parameters of the transfer portal.

Supposedly, players from ND and OSU can still enter the portal upon completion of their contest on Monday.

How would the players from those 2 schools still be eligible to enroll for spring semester when classes are well underway at virtually every university and the time for transfer students to enroll has closed?

Schools can easily make exceptions to allow a kid in a couple weeks late
Let's pretend Jeremiah Smith wanted to leave Ohio State--there's not a school in the country that wouldn't find a way to get him into classes two weeks late, arrange some kind of tutor and get him "caught up". He'll take the minimum number of credits and they'll make it work.

Because going to class doesn’t matter.

I agree with your general point but some schools have a mini winter session in January and don’t start Spring semester until the end of Jan or beginning of Feb

Correct. Legally players have the same
Right of movement as non-players. If a non-athlete student can transfer at any time, so can an athlete. Equal protection.
And honestly all this will do is eliminate the portal and students will be allowed to leave and transfer whenever they want. Coaches aren't thinking here.

The coaches, once again showing they have the best interests of the kids in mind ... "our solution is to limit the kids' freedom, to make it easier for us."

What a bunch of slimy imbeciles.

AKA, the Beau Pribula Rule

so you are suggesting CJF baited Beau into transferring?
No, Beau made his choice then Franklin used it for his benefit or his agenda. It's brilliant. Just wish Franklin understood this will eliminate a portal window and it will just always be open if it goes to court

Beau was a Penn State kid long before he committed, unfortunately every athlete wants to play. They have 5 years to get on the field and make their mark. Wish them well as they navigate through their journey.

Online classes are recorded. I'm sure they can watch the recording and easily get caught up. Like Deion said, neither Shadeur nor Travis ever stepped foot in a CU classroom.
