Call it wishful thinking or homerism, but an intuition suggests that being considered underdogs may be tailor made for a roster that contains many talented, yet heretofore unproven players.
Penn State is loaded with highly recruited talent and depth on both sides of the ball for the first time in James Franklin’s tenure. Of course this will also be the first year where all the players come from James Franklin’s recruiting efforts. Penn State will still be ranked in the Top 20 and expectedly behind OSU and scUM to start the season. Most of the concerns are about a new starting QB (Clifford) and losing Miles Sanders (despite an elite RB corps of 4-5 star studs). OSU has a brand new rookie head coach and rookie 1st year QB starting. Michigan with huge impact losses on defense and a brand new RPO offense being installed by a former James Franklin assistant coach. Michigan comes to Penn State for a whiteout under the lights. Can’t think of a better position for this team to make a big splash back to the top of the conference again.

No doubt the over 8.5 wins is a lock. It would be an extremely disappointing season if we have losses to OSU, scUM and MSU again. Iowa will likely be tough on the road, but just too much talent to lose to the Hawkeyes IMO.
What ? Are you actually a Penn State fan, or just a negative, pessimistic, whiner ? Which game are you saying we need to beat them first ? Iowa - we’ve won 5 straight. Are you ok if we lose to OSU, scUM and MSU this year ? It was very disappointing last year, especially the loss to Michigan State. This is a preseason forecast by the subject article and they claimed over 8.5 wins is a lock. I’m merely agreeing with the assessment and stating another 4 loss season would be extremely disappointing. Don’t think that James Franklin and the team feel any differently. How is that sour grapes, or posting crap ?
Be nice Gulf, neither Mary or I is a Soothsayer. Both of us have invested significant faith & confidence in the Penn State community long before you were born. Throughout Joe's tenure, always liked his position regarding the upcoming season, "let's wait and see".

Don’t have an issue with waiting to see how the season plays out, but the article posted was about preseason predictions and I simply stated that I am very optimistic on this team winning more than 8.5 games just as the article predicted. Mary proceeded to call it sour grapes and that I was posting crap. Of course they need to play the games and earn a season of 9 wins or more. Nuff said.

This thread is about UM. Before posting negative UM threads on a LIONS board , it would be better to beat them more often. My opinion and I am a super fan for 56 years. I would rather watch Rosie ODonnell take an enema than see UM win anything, including twiddle winks. PS. I think we crush them this year.
