FC: Big Ten officials apparently not very popular in GA

The false offsides on the blocked punt, a hold on Tua's 3rd and 7 scramble that led to a touchdown, and the ticky tacky DPI on UGA #14 after letting Bama mug Bulldog WRs all game were down right game changing.

The history since being in the Big 10 is officiating looks at one team that doesn't do anything right ( the microscope), the other team does nothing wrong (the blinders).

I hate BIG officiating, but honestly wouldn’t hosing Bama be smarter? I mean it is Bama who kept the sweethearts from Columbus from another embarrassment.

Is it true the crew last night was the same that got disciplined after the Purdue vs Wake Forest game a few years ago?

It's a big 10 tradition. The winning ref crew even gets a trophy.

I'm all ready to buy the conspiracy, given PSU's history, but then I look at the examples and they're just not very compelling.

The LOS calls .... The first one, the Alabama receiver is lined up 2 yards back from the LOS-- the play is designed for him to be moving forward at the snap and that is legal. If he's in the neutral zone at the snap, it's by inches and wouldn't have been visible in real time. Also didn't make a bit of difference in the play.

Meanwhile on the punt block, it sure looks to me like the Ga. defender is in the neutral zone when the ball is snapped and his ability to jump the snap was the key to the play.

The shove on the QB's head was marginal. It should have been called if the Alabama D was getting chippy and there was a need for the officials to make a statement. But by itself, little extra shoves aren't called a lot of the time unless they're an attempt to injure someone. It's unnecessary roughness but depending on the situation it might be a little cheap to call it.

Contrast that one with the no-call on the Washington player targeting McSorley helmet to helmet after McSorley had slid and given himself up.

If this is the best Atlanta fans can come up with in a whole game of film, I don't see a big problem.

I didn't read through your whole post, but you can't be moving forward at the snap, only parallel. You're thinking of Canadian football.

Remember when big 10 officials worked the usc Texas game a few years back? Oh boy, how did the Big 10 not get permanently banned after that?

There is a lot of incorrect information in this post

No. Bama will still be Bama win or lose. I would think that it's smarter to knock UGA down a bit. Don't want to create two juggernauts in the SEC.

As others have pointed out, offensive players aren't permitted to be moving forward when the ball is snapped.

On the punt block, two of the Alabama players in the backfield began moving prior to the snap. The Georgia player started to move after the first Alabama player moved.

The head shove certainly wasn't marginal. It was a classic case of unsportsmanlike conduct. The play was over and there was no reason for further contact.
