See the link below. From the article:

"Spring camp is over and the annual scrimmages are in the books. So, as part of an ongoing series this week, we're taking a look back at what we've learned so far this offseason."

And,

"1. Trace McSorley has the edge over Tommy Stevens, but the quarterback competition isn't over just yet...

..."I don't think it's fair to our football team or to Tommy right now to name a starter when I think Tommy can really close the gap between now and [camp]," Franklin said after the annual scrimmage. "That's also going to keep a competitive edge in our locker room and keep Trace working, because he's got a lot of areas to improve in as well."

Stevens said he wasn't sure whether he closed the gap at all during spring practice. So he'll have at least one more opportunity to show he's the better option. On the flip side, neither signal-caller looked particularly impressive during the portions of practice open to the media."

And,

"2. The tempo is noticeably faster on offense, and the line is making changes. New offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead has already made his mark by installing an up-tempo spread offense that plays to the strengths of his dual-threat quarterbacks. He also caught a few players off-guard with its speed. In the past, at spring practice, the offense would run about 14 plays over 10 minutes. This year? Try 14 plays in seven or eight minutes.

Another reason Franklin bought into Moorhead's simple-but-effective scheme is because it's also designed to help neutralize the shortcomings of this offensive line, which allowed 83 sacks the past two seasons. The line is still obviously a weak point of this team, but it should at least be improved over last season. And new offensive line coach Matt Limegrover hasn't been wary of mixing it up."

And,

"3. The defensive line is still searching to replace three starters, all now in the NFL -- but it has discovered some talent. No defensive position was more in need of a breakout player than tackle, so the Nittany Lions are pretty fortunate here. Defensive end-turned-tackle Kevin Givens was the surprise of the spring, and he could be in line for a starting position come September...

...Granted, this line still won't be able to equal last season's production. But there is more competition here than was expected."
