FC: espn's Josh Moyer on PSU's Austin Johnson

We've had a nice run on putting DT's into the NFL; Odrick, Still, Jordan Hill and DaQuan Jones. Now, Zettel and AJ. Let's hope that gets the attention of a certain DT from NJ and one from Philly. AJ is gonna make some cash. Good for him.

I was kind of worried when LJ Sr left that our dline production might fall off some as I believed he was the main driving force behind its success. I've been more than pleasantly surprised to see our dline is just as strong as ever, not only through 1 coaching change, but two.

I'm guessing our new S&C program is helping there. The recent guys were nowhere nearly as highly rated as Odrick and Still were out of high school. Yet, production hasn't slipped. We're getting good, hard-working kids there. And, it's working.

Zettel was a high 4-star coming out of HS (a 5.9). AJ was a 3-star. Before the guys mentioned by the original poster we had Alford, Kennedy, and Adams. Adams was a 3-star, and Hill was a 2-star. We probably have a better % of putting guys in the NFL with 2-stars and 3-stars than 4-stars (not a high number of 2-stars recruited). And I am not suggesting that we should gear our recruting that way. Just that PSU has established a pretty solid tradition of putting DTs in the NFL over the last decade. The old S&C conditioning program must have worked as well.
