FC: Greatest lightweight room!

Iowa does consistently put up lightweights that perform at a high level, Brands deserves credit. I do think that Penn State is only scratching the surface in what that room will be in 5 years on an international level. They have had some tough breaks with DT, Zain recently but the skill and the hard work will eventually pay major dividends with medals. Then we will see the International success catch up to our NCAA success. It just may not be at the lowest weight.

Edit- And when that happens PSU will be despised by many even more unfortunately

Nah...
Let them embrace the niche and give them something to hang their hat on. We can settle for being the best room, period.

agreed. when people have to start carving things up or creating niches to get accolades or to prop up their opinion/actions/themselves, they are clearly missing the bigger picture.

Iowa is certainly the best lightweight room with a kid named Gilman, a coach named Brands, and painted black and yellow, in the world.
Like that?

Agree. Its like the Air Coryell Chargers, best passing game in the NFL, zero championships.

Dude! I lived in San Diego in those days, and you're right about never winning the Big One, but that was still one of the most exciting teams ever. Dan Fouts, John Jefferson, Kellen Winslow, Charlie Joiner, Wes Chandler , Chuck Muncie and even John Capeletti! Nobody will ever forget the AFC playoff game against Miami in 1982 or the intense rivalry with the Raiders that lasted for years. Some great memories from that time for sure.

So you're saying they should be happy with winning 125/133 once every couple years? It makes for good memories? Sure, if that's good enough.

That wasn't my point. I just think it's cool that after 35 years, people still remember Air Coryell. He really changed the way the game was played.

What was really cool was how often you saw the big stars from the Chargers mixing with the general public. I used to see those guys all the time hanging around in popular places. I'll never forget one Friday night at a popular place called El Torito in La Jolla. Half the team showed up including Fouts, Winslow and a bunch of other guys on the offense. You should have seen how the women just flocked around John Capeletti! I don't remember if he was married or single back then, but he got the kind of attention that most guys would grovel to have. Fun times for all!

One game I'll never forget was that 1982 Chargers/Dolphins game at the Orange Bowl. I was only 9 then but remember thinking a game can't get any better than that. They'd drag Winslow off the field in pain and a few plays later there he was again...

That was an awesome game! Unfortunately the wrong team won.

It's the new standard. It is really cool how accepting and satisfied the HR fan base has so easily become.

Of course sometimes you just have to be willing to know your place and accept whatever spot the new sheriff offers you to hang your hat.
