FC: Haven't see this posted but OL Jones leaving OSU

Probably can't transfer to another Big Ten school unless Meyer OK's it.

Not sure if he can play or not... would leave that up to Coach Hand....from the article it said he is leaving because he wants to see the field and playing time quicker not be stuck behind upper classmen. Didn't see people saying he can't play.
you don't translate very well IMHO, if he could play he'd be on the field somehow someway. Besides I am pretty sure the B1G has a 2 yr sit out rule within the conference.

Nope, only has to sit out one, but loses a year of eligibility, so he'd have two left.

They're there.
When you've signed 99 guys to LOIs over the last 4 years (FWIW, PSU has signed 86 over the same time period - and both programs are eligible for the full 85)....you gotta' trim the fat. Especially when this year's group of prospects in Ohio State's recruiting territory is one of the better groups in the last several years.

S E C! S E C! S E C!

Not a fan of trimming, but also don't have a whole lot of sympathy for anyone walking into a program like that who becomes part of the fat.

uh no actually you don't compute very well imho... he would have to sit 1 year... yeesh
and that's why I qualified it with, 'pretty sure'. I thought at one time the B1G had some kind of different transfer rule within the conference. Maybe it got changed to follow NCAA rules. It will be interesting to see if this kid makes it on the field for somebody. Still feel if he cant play (or get on the field) for OSU, PSU doesn't need him, now Marshall that's a different story

I think the old rule was that you could transfer within the B1G, but you wouldn't be eligible for a scholarship at the new school (this happened to Chris Rogers who transferred from Michigan to Penn State).

Not sure if you had to sit out a year under the old rule.

I dunno, what percentage of tOSU's roster could even get past the PSU admissions office? They recruit from, let's say, a bigger pool of players, always have. It's one of the things that allows them to compete for championships. You can play football at Ohio State without having to deal with too much of the pesky classes and papers and stuff. That's the way it's always been and I'd be surprised if Meyer changes that.

"What percentage of tOSU's roster could even get past (sic) the PSU admissions office?"

Answer: Probably 90+%.

Now, what percentage are the types of individuals - with a legitimate interest in using their abilities to actually get an education - that Franklin would want on his squad? I would guess a significantly lower number.
That's why some kids choose PSU, and some kids choose OSU, ........and some choose Florida State :)
