The Phillies better pull the trigger now while he's got some of his old form back.
Will we get anything in return? All I have seen so far is Phils hoping someone just takes him off their hands where the Phils pay most of his salary. If that is the where we are ..... we should just keep him. He is finally healthy and hitting again. And they do not have a young potential superstar bat waiting for a chance to play.
The contracts you're comparing Howard's against were signed by free agents. Howard had 2(?) years until free agency when he was given the monster contract

I never cared about the $$ he was paid. He hit a lot of HRs making a lot less. He has suffered some devastating injuries and finally seems to be physically recovered. I am enjoying his success. He was a very large part of the Phils success and world championship.
Well that's great, but MLB teams and owners care about the money
How much will they get for a mediocre-fielding 35 year old who strikes out six times as often as he walks?in the mix. Discuss.....

Yes I know you are. Sure they can afford to pay Howard 55M for the next 2 years, but no one wants to. Thats why the Phillies need to chip in money (rumor is 35M) for teams to be interested
