That season, Fry’s fifth as Iowa’s head coach, included the following:

– Offensive coordinator Bill Snyder
– Linebackers coach Barry Alvarez
– Offensive line coach Kirk Ferentz
– Defensive line coach Dan McCarney
– Graduate assistant Bob Stoops

So was this the greatest staff in college football history?

I still go with the '61 staff fired by the U of Kentucky
Blanton Collier was HC
Don Shula AC
Chuck Knox AC
Howard Schnellenberger AC
Bill Armsparger AC

but I guess these guys became great pro coaches, while Fry's staff stayed with college coaching.

or Maybe we should discuss what is the best kind of pool liner instead?
what you say?

Mighty impressive, but... 9-3.

Which begs the question: is that underperforming or overperforming at Iowa?

For those of us from the dark ages, in the early fifties , Biggie Munn at Michigan State had a staff of Duffy Daugherty , Dan Devine , Forest Evashevski and Bob Devaney . There may have been one other who went on to coaching notoriety.

Didn't Biggie have the 'ends back' formation??
