After a lackluster summer film season (IMO), we're treated to some very good looking WWII Oscar-bait from two of the most interesting filmmakers out there - Christopher Nolan and Mel Gibson. Take a look!

Dunkirk - Christopher Nolan:

Allied soldiers from Belgium, Britain, Canada and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II. Starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Mark Rylance.

Hacksaw Ridge - Mel Gibson:

WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Vince Vaughn, and Hugo Weaving.

And might as well add the WWII film I'm most looking forward to - Wonder Woman!! We don't get this until 2017, but it's never too early to get an eyeful of Gal Gadot...

I hate Nazis, unless they look like this:

Am I having a '60's flashback, or is the direction of the swastika differernt in these two photos? I have only seen the Nazi symbol as shown in the second photo.
No, you are not crazy. Likely the image got flipped at some point.

Dunkirk is the movie I'm looking fowstd to the most. Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy are great together in Peaky Blinders. Hope that chemistry carriers over to this movie. Also, it's about time someone made a movie about Dunkirk.

I believe there was a film made in '58.

I submit to you for your viewing pleasure this informational episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker that deals with symbols similar to the Nazi swastika.

Wonder Woman looks to be a WW I film, not WW II.

From the Wiki page concerning Chris Pine's character Steve Trevor...

Trevor is an intelligence officer in the United States Army during World War II,..

EDIT: Wiki was wrong.

this was alluded to in BvS . . . but I didn't want to be the d*ck who corrected him

:D

I guess you guys are right; WWI. Curious since Wonder Woman wasn't even created in the DC Universe until WWII.

Not excited for the Wonder Woman movie. I think I'm suffering from superhero overload. Have no desire to see Suicide Squad, the Avengers are becoming sickeningly "cutesie"...and the X-Men lost me a movie or two ago. The only superhero movie I'm now looking forward to is the standalone Batman...because lets face it, since he has no superpowers and is purely human, he's the most compelling character in the superhero genre. Would love to see a Batman movie set in WWII or a Gotham by Gaslight type movie. (I haven't read the graphic novel yet, so on spoilers like Batman doesn't die...heh...but the premise sounds cool and it's no my reading list.)

Wonder Woman is great because of the ties to Greek mythology in the DCUO. And I love Gal Gadot in the role. Really think it'll be different than your typical superhero story - sort of a female Captain America and Thor mixed together.

I thought Wonder Woman was great because of the hooters. Especially, as a young pre-teen and teen. Come to think of it, in my old age it is still great because of the hooters.
