Funny how they don't mention the MISUSE of the Philly DA's Office and the PA SWIGJ System in a clear attempt to prevent these very emails from ever seeing the light of day and Kane from being the party who releases them. How precisely does the author figure that the release of these emails (which was banned by the partisan SWIGJ Judge working to protect the GOP, Corbutt and Fina via dubious rationale) has nothing to do with the kangeroo court, abusive SWIGJ findings meant to silence Kane? BTW, why no mention of Seth Williams and Fina protecting and giving a politically corrupt crock guilty of defrauding State Charities (and therefore the State Citizenry) of nearly a half-million dollars??? This is all about Kane attempting to protect people that Fina and Williams have rung up on extremely minor charges of accepting a couple thousand dollar gifts while protecting a guy who is guilt of stealing nearly a half-million bucks (and that's just what is known - the number could be bigger) by committing Charitable Fraud, racketeering, etc...??? This "fluff piece" is amusing at best.
Overdue is right. How can the city's largest newspaper take this long to call for them to go? And they bury it in a bunch of slanders about Kane. Judges quash subpoenas, not prosecutors.
One thing is clear: even the shameful Inky cannot tolerate porny racist Frank Fina.
While I agree 100% with your points about Fina, that was actually a pretty balanced article if not completely factually correct. Fina is scum, but the questions about Kane are legit if you set aside your partisanship. Key people I talk to on both sides of the aisle (and I try to focus on those without a clear PSU bias) say she is unimpressive and has totally botched her tenure as AG.
Count me among those who voted for her and stand woefully unimpressed to date.
Yeah well if all they have on her is that she le3aked GJ info, that is pretty weak. You do understand that all GJ info is secret, right? Hell, the info about her being recommended for charges leaked. PA was not protecting its children for decades before she came along. How impressive was ANY previous AG by that metric?

1. Virtually all of the negative information about Kane has been fed to the Inquirer by Frank Fina. The Inky has been his mouthpiece. It's no wonder that they don't want to admit it now.
2. Kane's tenure as AG is a failure only if you think that she should've wasted thousands and thousands of taxpayer dollars defending a stupid law that has since been permanently overturned by the Supreme Court and if you think that there is something wrong with going after scumbags who trade child porn and abuse children.

I am not up to speed on the drug side but as I recall the sex offender task force (or whatever it was called) was put in place before she ever took office mostly as a result of Sandusky. I'm not saying she hasn't done anything at all, but her AG tenure has been a political circus from day one, the Moulton Report accomplished very little and overall neither has she . If that is your cup of tea, have at it. You might get a chance to vote for her again.
We agree on a lot of things Simons, but not this. Kane is a joke as an AG.
The Child Predator task force languished under Corbett. Arrests are up about 800% under Kane (now up to about 300). The OAG has also made big strides in combating heroin trafficking, another thing that Tom Corbett did diddlysquat about.
If Kane's tenure as AG has been a circus, Frank Fina has been the ringmaster. If you want to side with the bully who ran the PA OAG like Hoover's FBI -- using it as a weapon for going against political enemies instead of protecting the people of the commonwealth -- then you go right ahead. But don't blame the rest of us for the fact that PA is a cesspool.
That task force was put in place in November 2012 by the Pa House and Senate. I believe Kane was sworn in Jan 2013?

Pretty sure you are incorrect about that, the PA OAG Child Predator Unit Special Investigative Force was formed by Corbett back in 2007 I believe.

The fact of the matter is that Tom Corbett didn't give a damn about catching pedophiles. To him, the PA OAG was a primarily a tool for attacking political enemies.
Well yeah, Corby had to set up the "Child Predator Unit Special Investigative Force" to set up the Money ring that is financing all this wonderful corruption. The best part is no one can say or do anything regarding The Second Mile except Penn State who is now on the hook for just under A Billion Dollars to shut every one up. Fortunately, I haven't excepted one dime of money, and therefore, keep yapping about this travesty.
