30. Penn State Nittany Lions
Football Spring Analysis & Ranking

Football: 11-2 overall, 7-2 in conference, T2nd in Big Ten East

Basketball: 26-13 overall, 9-9 in conference, T6th in Big Ten

How Was The Football/Basketball Season? The Nittany Lions were so, SO close to doing giant things in football, but getting to the Fiesta Bowl and rolling by Washington was cool. Winning the NIT was … winning the NIT. Yippee.

Finished in the top 10 in football and number 30 in basketball and that equals a #30 ranking overall? I’m not sure I follow that logic.

Hey Marshall wasnt in the top 25 in either sport yet they finished #24 so go figure....

# 28 Georgia State

Need we say more.
So you don’t have to page through the article:
#11 Purdue
#4. Michigan
#3 OSU
#1Alabama

Pete Fiutile had some time (and other stuff) on his hands while he was waiting to jerk off again.

I gave it about three minutes of browsing. So he arbitrarily groups teams based on such divisions as “good at one sport, bad at the other”. Evidently, the line we did not make was “post season both teams”. So making it into a low tier bowl is the equivalent of an NCAA bid (but not NIT), which is how Georgia State climbed to its heights while Penn State failed (I dare you to find that sentence published anywhere in the history of everything!). No regard to level of competition played/conference, just arbitrary lines drawn in the sand - you know, kind of how the MNC selection committee does it.

I think they're de-valuing the NIT Championship win. Because, there's this (not sure who the other four teams are):

No one outside our fan base, our team and the coaching staff care at all about the NIT. I think 30 is low because of the quality of the football team but winning the NIT is the same as not making the NCAA

And why should we give a shit what the fans of other teams and idiots from the media feel. We would have beat well over half of the teams who made the NCAA tournament if we played them in mid-late March. I know it, and you do too, but you won’t admit it bc you are a closet OSU fan. You won’t admit that either.

Sigh--that's your argument? We failed to make the NCAA--the season was a disappointment and a failure. I'm already prepared for the excuses next year. Our football program, while disappointing IMO, still had an amazing season and there's a valid argument that we should be higher based solely on that but to think our basketball team was in anyway impressive is delusional.

It's because of the basketball on one side. And that deserves a ton of credit I would have Marshall near us personally but I would not have us at 3rd. For any school to be ranked ahead of us just my opinion they have to win their first round game of the NCAA tournament and they had to win a bowl game. Or have a well-above-average football year for them and at least get to a bowl game. There is no way in hell a school like Texas should be ahead of us on a list like that.

Writer is obviously a chode.

Good B.S. poll.

Refractory period is a bitch.

And as Fiutile gets older those periods will become longer so we have more of his inanity to look forward to. Fortunately, it's been years since I last looked at CFN, so maybe my luck will return and no one else will link to it in the future. Better yet, maybe his parents will stop paying for his internet connection.and throw him out of their basement.
