do you think Durbin thought of this stuff himself? Or do you think he learned it?? I can think of at least 10 teams, that whoever won the spring game ate steak, or whoever lost ate hotdogs.

Thats the least of the issues that I have with the story.
As I recall Jabrill Peppers said some not so flattering things about him while he was at Michy.
Michy knew.;)

it might have gotten lost in the OSU pregame and game posts.
But wow if this is true I don't know how more of the coaches that were there at the time
are still employed.

This aspect of the storyline is very telling:

"one former player told The Post on condition of anonymity out of concern for his football future. "

In today's culture of 'snowflake-ism' (don't over stress me) how many coaches are capable of changing a 'losing culture'?? It is a 'carrot and stick' versus 'creme puff and My Pillow' approach!

AND the age old adage of "follow the money" !

The comments to the articles are always a fun read when you consider our own problems of the past 6/7 years.

As far as the motivational method goes, some people respond to to it, others don't. I know I would not be motivated by that strategy. I don't respect a coach that uses those methods because I see them as barbaric. There's a thin line there, I guess.

If I recall, wasn't van pelt all over paterno/penn state? And yet he thinks that it wasn't durkin that caused the toxic culture? Interesting.....

In hindsight, nearly all tragedies are prevenable, This former OSU OL great was a good friend of my then-student trainer daughter at OSU. She used to talk about how hard certain players pushed themselves to the point of exhaustion and he was one of them especially during players-only workouts.

Apparently they wouldn't have needed "hindsight" (and yea I saw what you did there) if they, the President of MD and the AD, had acted or at least taken the mothers letter seriously in 2016.
