feeling good abt Iowa

While I agree that PSU winning by 30 isn't the most likely outcome (I'd put it at a 3% chance), would you agree that it is more likely that PSU win by 30 than Iowa win by 30?

There are posters on the Iowa boards predicting an Iowa blowout. LOL.

IMO there is about a 1% chance either team wins by 30. I have Iowa winning 23-19 in one scenario and 30-16 in another, I like Iowa's under the radar chances in this game a lot. I could see the scores reversed too, no doubt. I cannot see anything that resembles 42-12, 30-0 or 28-3 PSU, it just isn't going to happen ...

I think the key is the OL play for Iowa. Their manhood was put into question after last weeks debacle. If they can give Stanley some time and open a few holes, game on. Most of you guys say that cannot happen, but I think it can and will. Take care boys, I'm out until the morning ...

Iowa may win (I doubt it), but they aren't scoring 23 on this defense.

I was at the Maryland game and it was not really that loud except when Penn State fans cheered.

I wasn't there, but that was the impression I got on TV. Heck, the stands were half white for goodness sakes.

It doesn't, I was using it independent of us playing Iowa. That even though elite teams lose, they still win enough big games to get in. We don't yet...Iowa would be a very good win...if we can actually beat Michigan and MSU in the same season, those are great wins IMO due to all the trouble we have had.
When those “big game” are NC State, Louisville, UNC, etc...it’s a hell of a lot easier to win enough big games to get in.

No doubt....the ACC is a joke. No reason why we shouldn't expect us to be able to win our big games in the B1G. We are a legendary program and we should expect to be elite.

No reason except they’re a hell of a lot harder than winning those games in other conferences.

Yes they are...nobody is doubting that...with the way we have recruited and been in position to win these "big" games...the expectations to finally have a season or two like OSU are more than fair.

I don’t understand this manhood was challenged and now Iowa’s offensive line is gonna go out against the best front 7 they will face this year and get after it. Weren’t they trying in a huge game in the big house vs one of the teams everyone hates the most? Didn’t they realize they were both ranked and how big a game it was? Didn’t they realize they were freaking playing Michigan???? But now their manhood has been challenged and they are gonna turn it up a notch against the best defense they will face this year.

Stanley has always crumbled under pressure of big games, tonight he is gonna finally put all the pieces together vs the best defense they have faced???

I got news for people, there is one way to beat this defense and it isn’t running and ball control. 1. It is protecting the QB and 2. being able to go thru the air. You can’t do 2 without 1 and Penn State likes hanging out in the opposing offenses backfield.

I am not a homer, Iowa can win this game but there is pretty much no way an upset will be led by a manned up offensive line and grinding style of football

I think this game comes down to PS's offense - they will have to win it. I make this assumption because I think that IA scores on the PS d and generates a score on special teams.

Then the Iowa plan is:

*Completely take away the PS running game, shut it down entirely
*Pressure Clifford to pass, zone overages behind, generate enough rush with front four
*Hit Clifford

I think an efficient IA offense that causes PS trouble, an uneven offensive performance by PS, and IA winning the special teams battle leads to the IA upset. Not sold on the PS running game. I think if IA had a better QB this game could really get away from PS. Obv hope I am wrong.

Alright, I've thought about it. PS isn't losing to these corn freaks. Big win in Iowa City. Bring It!

Poise and execution are the key for PSU. Kinnick is just a stadium like any other. Ferentz should get the credit for his coaching ability not the building. I am looking forward to the game.

The only prediction that is 100% certain is that a PSU loss will be the result of one or more of their coaches. Mark it down. As reliable as the sun coming up tomorrow. A win, will be met by the resident coaching evaluators with, "let's see what they do against Michigan and OSU." Its not easy being an elite fan.

Especially if Penn State wins big....then it will definitely be that Iowa isn’t any good. Posters will forget that many people are predicting a close game with a lot of upset predictions...but win easily and unlike Ohio State who blows out teams because they are so good, PSU will have blown out Iowa because Iowa is not very good.

Have you ever played sports? It's simple human nature. Emotion plays a huge role in how teams perform from one week to the next. I'm sure you have seen PSU come off a bad performance in the past and play much better the next game. On the flip side, a big win sometimes causes a team to get a little complacent ("read the press clippings") and come out flat the next game. I think you know exactly what I'm talking about but just don't have any respect for Iowa so you dismiss it.

I cannot guarantee a win for Iowa but I will guarantee the OL will be more motivated and focused than usual, and will play better than they did a week ago.

Go Hawks! Here's to a clean, injury free game.

1) PSU will hold its own at the LOS. Probably win on D. Rotation helps.
2) PSU wins team speed.
3) PSU Maryland game helpful for dealing with crowd noise.

Re: #3, The Maryland home field advantage isn't holding up well against the mighty 1-4 Purdue Boilermakers. Maryland down 33-14 in the 3rd.
