Franklin isn't the only one who had them unranked though: Calhoun, Gonzalez, Hoke, Chadwell Doeren, Dykes, Tucker, Fitz, Whittingham, Saban, Drayton, Fritz, MacIntyre, Cumbie, Dimel, Martin, Albin,
Hell Franklin wasn't even the only coach in PA to have them unranked since Drayton is at Temple.
Franklin also had Iowa ranked higher than anyone else. Boo.
Dimel's ballot is a joke. USC ahead of TCU and ahead of Tulane.
I love the fact that Narduzzi had PSU ranked the lowest of any coach while Franklin left Pitt off his final ballot. That’s the type of pettiness that should exist between Pitt and Penn State coaches.
He had us 9th--it's not like the writer that put us 13th. The Washington pick is confusing. I understand his delusional selection of Clemson because they're in the ACC. Will Hall had the best ballot (meaning logical)--maybe we can just let him be the committee moving forward.
No, 17 coaches didn't including Temple's. So the only coach who ranked them in the state of PA was Narduzzi.
Franklin not including Pitt is worse than Narduzzi having Penn State a spot or two low.
He also has utah behind USC. Pitt ranked the highest.
The AP ballots are a ton of fun. OSU writer has us behind Tulane and several other big ten writers have us behind Washington. Nothing like conference pride.

I’m not upset by Franklin’s rankings; that’s what I’d expect from him. I was annoyed that NCST’s Dave Doeren left us off his final ballot. We need to get on the SEC’s level of conference honking.
17 other coaches didn't rank Pitt so he was hardly alone in his sentiment.
Right because of lot of coaches don't know enough to rank teams after that top 15 or so...doesn't make it right
but you know enough. And that’s enough for me and everyone else here.
Not ranking Pitt is entirely defensible. I mean, if someone wants to argue they are somewhere in the 18-25 range and vote for them, sure that's fine. But it's not really tough to come up with 25 teams that are arguable better. There's a bunch of 9 win Power 5 teams or G5 teams with more wins that can make a case to deserve to get votes and its pretty arbitrary.
I think voting Pitt over Notre Dame is kinda funny though considering Notre Dame went 4-0 against the ACC, comfortably winning all of those games, including conference standard bearer Clemson.

John O’Neill’s ballot was a bit strange. Michigan was number 1 and no other big ten teams were ranked….
The irony though....Duzz was on an island...Franklin is having a "Pitt is Unranked" party that's 28% of voters strong.
If you rank your team higher than every other coach, you're doing it wrong.
The irony for Saban is that it's hard for him to even justify it on paper. OSU played UGA closer than Bama did. Whichever GA that Nicky had do this, should be demoted.

UGA has never made the playoff in a season where they played Bama in the regular season and only once when playing them in the SECCG.
