How about Rutgers 157 John Van Brill..they list him as John Vanschenkbrill..earlier in the year he was in a tournament and his name was listed as Vanschenkbrill..

I've followed him since high school..don't ever remember seeing Vanschenkbrill

the other thing I found interesting is the coaches gave Hall the #2 spot (has to be due to the loss at all-star), but they have Cruz at #1 (he lost at all-star as well)
Bunch of inconsistencies.

Rios behind Lee because he didn't win the match, Bresser did?

Mueller behind DeSanto despite multiple H2H wins. Lee behind Alber and Thorn behind McKenna.

Also interesting: Tomasello and Preisch both unranked. Maybe not enough matches?

Kind of highlights the importance of the MD match in one way.

Nevills really needs to get himself into the 6th seed or higher. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th don't really matter, but 7th or 8th is no good.
Lots of hay can be made in wrestlebacks. Only saying that 7th/8th, even 9th/10th, isn't the end of the world.

Staying in the Championship Bracket as long as possible is significant (every win passes 2 rounds of wrestle-backs), so that's big. Still, the cream should rise to the top, right...and Nick can still earn a high placing.

Coaches Ranking is a reconciled ranking from the rankings of one coach from each conference, with all the biases and prejudices that go along with that. Also, 5 bouts at your Championship Weight Class are needed to be in the ranking...explains Tomasello, not Priesch (edit: as pish points out, Preisch hasn't wrestled in 30 days...which is another criteria).

Agreed, and Nick controls his own destiny. If he wins out except vs. Snyder and Coon, he'll finish 3rd B10. No chance he'd be below 6th seed with that record.

Also..to add to this.."must have wrestled in last 30 days" Example Ryan Priesch not listed (has 8 matches) since he hasn't wrestled since early December
Thanks, didn't realize he's been out that long...next bout he wrestles, he'll be in this ranking.

Vanschenkbrill is the familie's real (original) name that was shortened to VanBrill when his grandfather came to the U.S. after WWII. His Uncle Hans, who was also a successful HS wrestler, started using Vanshenckbrill after high school. They are really a wonderful family that owns and operates Van Brill Pools in Gloucester County.

Very interesting. Wonder why he would choose to go under two different names though? In other words, if he going by Van Brill, why would he give Vanschenkbrill to NCAA?

The stats in the link for the awards standing are wrong in terms of the number of pins. Both Nolf and Retherford have 13 (not 12) pins. This can be easily confirmed through Wrestle Stat and other sources. Hope they correct the information.

Rankings are not necessarily a function of formula or being consistent to a pattern or precedent

Yeah, I always liked the name Bobby McGee. Never was a Janis Joplin fan but liked how she sang that song..
Yeah, but it was written by Kris Kristofferson. He also wrote Sunday Morning coming down, which was sung by Johnny Cash, He wrote "Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again" - which is a classic. "Who is to bless and who is to blame" and I believe "Why me Lord" were all his songs.
Does it show that I am a fan?

And all it takes is 1 or 2 deviant ballots to throw off a weight class. If all but 2 ballots had Bresser/Rios 1 spot ahead of Lee but a couple coaches put Lee 3 or 4 spots ahead of Bresser (or even just 1 coach having Bresser outside the top 12) this is what you get.

It is a tool, along with Win % and RPI, used to determine Gold/Silver Standard, which leads to the Conference Allotments...nothing more. The NCAA seeding committee uses it too, along with six or seven other metrics.

Only mentioning this, as it's small potatoes in the bigger scheme of earning a trip to Nationals.

High and low ballots for each wrestler are thrown out of the calculations.

Let's not forget For The Good Times, and Help Me Make It Through the Night.
