I'm going to be bringing an RV to the Pitt/PSU game for the first time ever this fall. Can anyone provide me with some advice?

Where should I park? Do I need a pass? If so, how do I get one? What day/time can I arrive? When do I need to leave?

Any other tips, advice, etc?

Here is a link to last year's policies - most will likely apply to 2017.

This is great info, thanks! Does anyone know if the overnight lot typically fills up by Friday evening? It's for the Pitt game so that's my concern.

If you're bringing a motorhome with an onboard gen-set, make certain you invest in a gen-turi exhaust stack ($139 at Camping World) otherwise you will not make friends with ( not to mention asphyxiate) the folks in the adjacent spot...

I would expect the RV lot to be packed early for the Pitt game. I'm planning on heading up from Philly bright and early on Friday

Does purchasing an overnight pass in advance guarantee you a spot though? We can't get there until Friday late afternoon/early evening.

My brothers in law and I have an rv loaned to us for the yearly night games usually Ohio State or Michigan. We leave around noon from the Wilkes-Barre area and get there about 3 to 5 PM. Two years ago we stayed up until 2 AM Saturday morning and there was a steady, continuous line of rv's arriving all the way down to Park Ave along Orchard Rd into the night.

You were OK getting there around 3 or 5 though?

Just in case. Exhaust is heavier than air. If you use a stack, your roof vents should remain closed; I see this all the time. The exhaust can enter the vehicle trough the roof vents; be careful out there.

and thus you should install a CO(2)? detector is there isn't one in there already!

They will typically cut off sales of the overnight RV passes once they know the lot will be full. As long as you get your pass in advance - before they cut sales off - you should be fine. Lots were full for Rutgers 2 years ago and OSU last year - only people with advance passes were let in (though we waited in line to get in with our advance pass and I think it was due in part to people trying to talk their way in.) I suspect they'll sell out even earlier for Pitt.

As was said above if you buy your pass ahead of time you will get in. I go every weekend and stay in the overnight lot. Most games I don't arrive until 9 or 10 pm on Friday night. They always honor prepaid parking. Last year was the first time I ever remember them turning people away if they didn't have prepaid parking. They did this because the "overflow" for RV parking isn't level and the ground was wet and muddy. They were afraid if they parked RV's in that area they would get stuck so they only allowed in what was pre sold. The bottom line, buy your parking in advance and you will get into the lot regardless of what time you arrive.
