Flo: PSU Line-up

2 things I think Willie misses (though I get his thought process). 1) I don't think Zain can make '41 still and be healthy. 2) Cael isn't going to cast off Conaway if he doesn't have to and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to

Yeah, besides that Conaway is a surer bet at 133 than an untested TRFR Joseph at 149, JG will go deeper at 141 than he would cutting to a more loaded 133. Even assuming Zain could cut to 141 without sacrificing his health, he's a finalist at either weight, so you're gaining nothing by dropping him there. Conaway hasn't faced any real challenges yet but he's looked great at 133. More confident too.

Everybody RS. It's Joseph's time this year and he'll look great at 157 next year as Nolf, Rasheed, Nickal, and McCutheon bump up in 2016/17.

They both made some good points. There is no slam dunk right way to go and I'm sure the coaches considered these same options over the summer.

I'm also sure their decision is final ... barring injuries.

"Zain's huge, can he even make '41?" ... quote from CP. For anyone that's seen Zain...'nuff said.

I enjoyed the Willie/Vais discussion for its entertain value...

thanks for listening, fellas.

of course i defer to cael's (and brands' and smith's) judgment/decisions.

i just always find interest in 'what if' line-up scenarios. and i think fans enjoy that kind of discussion.

Excellent show Willie. Think Cael has said a couple times it was Zain's call to go to 149. Seems he saw no reason to fight it. Cael's quip about CP's "plan" reminds one of a great John Lennon lyric from Revolution.

I have a feeling Conaway goes out with a bang this year and exceeds his current ranking at nationals. He looks different this year to me. Strong, confident, controlled. I realize he hasn't faced the top guys yet, but I think he'll do well. He looks like a 5th year senior and not the "live underdog" he's been in past years.
Cenzo is going to be a beast, but Zain's not making 141 anymore.
It's good discussion though and that podcast is enjoyable.

Zain would make 125 at Okie State. (Kidding!) (Kinda.)

Seriously, the lineup is what it should be.

Excited to see Cenzo at the Scuffle (hopefully) but I like Cael's plan of having him redshirt and filling out into a 157#er. When he beat Anthony Ashnault at the Junior World Team Trials this past summer he looked like a natural 149#er, but not a particularly big one. At 157 he'll be going up against big, strong guys like Martinez, Brian Murphy, etc.. A year's seasoning should prove to be beneficial.

I agree and lots of speculation and what if's occur in the off/pre season. However, I don't see much point in speculating on changes once the lineup is set, especially when most of those changes just are not going to happen and depending on what weights individuals certified at may not even be possible. Did Gulibon cert at 133 and did Retherford cert at 141? I don't know the answer to those questions but they should be asked before speculating on guys dropping to those weights.
