Florida recruit's mom walks out when he doesnt pick bama

"It has finally came to the light... my own family don’t believe in me succeeding at what I wanna do," Copeland wrote. "I’m proud to see how they really feel about me. After tomorrow them specifically people should not say a word to me and they know who they are. ??"

Surprised he didn't have any offers from Ivy League schools!?

That was pretty bad. She totally left her kid in an awkward position there having to answer the questions and explain the situation.

It would have been better had the family not been all decked out in the Alabama (and some Tennessee) gear.

I don’t believe for one second that this was legit. These signing day “spectacles” are all about kids bringing attention to themselves. I think they staged it as a stunt to make it go viral. She had a Bama shirt on and Vols hat. But no Florida gear, and he chose Florida. Sorry, it just wreaks of a setup.

That was awkward and sad. I thought for sure he was going to pick Bama. He was wearing a red suit.

The kid definitely isn't articulate but I thought he handled that fairly well for an 17/18 year old who's mom literally just walked away from him during the biggest moment of his life to that point. Classy.

If this was planned, it is pathetic. If this wasn’t planned, it is both sad and pathetic for the family. Why would you want this sort of attention? It’s not good...

Remember the incident with the RB Green from Arkansas who was a PSU lock until the eve before LOI Day. Ole Petey got to him and feed him some bs the night before, so he surprised everyone at his hs that day when he announced for USC. His mother was in total shock; "Deer in the headlights." And, it was probably the worst decision the kid ever made!

Pay attention to the world and see how many people are attention seeking whores, regardless of how stupid it makes them look. Look at reality TV.

I don’t think it was planned. Just saw some more video on espn. Kid was giving an interview standing at a mic and the tears were flowing. Felt bad for the kid on what was supposed to be his big day. His mother then walks up to him and hugs him. Not a good look for his mom today.

Yeah, for some reason you see this a lot with SEC recruits. Mom/Dad are big on one school, kid picks another, and there's a scene. Happened a couple years ago with a kid who didn't pick LSU like his mom wanted. I will say if my kid is a football player and is down to Florida and Bama, he better pick Bama.

She walked out because she thought he picked Pitt. She was OK when she realized he picked Florida.

I really do think the kid handled it well. The mom deserves whatever is said about her

Things like this are why everyone knows money is involved. kid's parents are promised something and then the kid picks the school that didn't offer (as much)

I don't think we can speculate. I'd be mad if my kid told me it was down to two schools then announced a third school I was unprepared for. Some kids need more parent involvement, some less.
