Flow Talking Lineups & Upcoming NCAA Championship

Thanks for posting.

Bo J over Bo N, interesting....

I was also surprised they didn't give Cortez any love.

They're saying tossup between PSU, OSU, tOSU, and Iowa. Not sure I'd agree with including OSU.

Too early to exclude OSU, and I might even add Va Tech as a darkhorse (no champs will hurt them, but they should have plenty of AA's).

I believe Mizzu is the team that could sneak into the top three. 125,133,141,149,165,184,197 could AA with top four potential at 5 different weights.
This really is a crazy year going in with so many new faces in the top tier. I favor PSU simply because bonus point potential. It would not shock me if Iowa, TOSU,OSU, or even Mizzu ended up winning the whole thing. The top teams are all one injury away. Stoll is a health concern for Iowa. How does Brock come back for OSU? Manly for Mizzu? I can't wait to get this party started.

I've enjoyed the Olympics, Juniors, and Cadet discussions over the past few months. That said, this FRL edition was almost totally focused on the upcoming college season. It was music to my ears. Plus, in the show Willie made a mention of a post on this board (Time since last Champ or AA, per weight …).

Certainly a good listen.

Parity will be the ultimate decider, which is awesome. Super-tight race this year.

Micah got talked up a lot. IDK. Feel like that's too much of gut-tape analysis. But I think AA contender is fair. NaTo, gotta overcome the length but he's so freaking strong it might not matter. NaTo v. Clark will be very, very good. BoJo is going to be fun to watch. Want to see that tFR-rFR version.

So excited for our new guys, they're gonna beast this year.

James English was absolutely a critical piece of that run that year, not arguable. I would say 4 of the last titles were comfortable.

Speaking of line-ups NC State just released some interesting info - it's on Flo - Fausz is having trouble holding and Rohskopf is at 57. A Bullard (didn't say which) and Reenan at 65/74. Boykin to HWT

If Rohskopf can make 57 comfortably he is going to absolute maul some kids from top

Does anyone honestly think Suriano can make the finals? Would be nice to see another Nico true frosh performance...

I'm more interested in how the lineup will be from 74 - 97....with Bo, Rasheed, Cutch, & hopefully Cassar. What say you regarding the lineup from 74 to 97? If Cassar can go is Cutch the odd man out?

Yes.

But make the initial rankings I'm told no.

I guess we'll soon see

If Cassar can go, I don't believe it affects Mouse, as he is 184, at last word from Cael.

So you think Bo & Rasheed battle it out at 74? I thought I read somewhere talk of Bo potentially going 84...any word on Stout? He's worthy of mentioning....

If Moisey could, Suriano certainly can. His resume is amazing.

Stout could start the season as the man at 197, or it could be Cassar. I'm just going by Jim Carlson's article on Cael's words, as I recall them. Cael said Mouse is going at 184, I believe, and as I remembered it, the door is open for Bo at either 174 or `84, but my impression was that Bo will stay at 174...unless Hall goes and THAT was not written in stone by Cael either.

In other words, clear as mud, lmao.

Yeah, Hall gets the shirt this year IMO. I'd like to see Bo stay at 74, Mouse & Rasheed settle 84 & Cassar, if healthy enough at 97. If that's not the case then Stout could fill in at 97. Either way it plays out it looks as though Mouse or Rasheed may be the odd man out. Unless Cassar can't go and they choose to bump up which I don't think is feasible for Mouse due to his build but Rasheed I could see. That being said, it'd be a huge jump over one off-season to go up 30+ lbs and truly be comfortable let alone effective.

WIN magazine ranks him as a non-qualifier.

But seriously: Distinct possibility, depending upon seeding. Gilman might be too much to overcome this year. But, if Suriano is in the other half, why not? There are a number of good 125s, but I don't see anyone else who can't be caught.

For reference, the B10 returning national qualifiers are Gilman, Lambert, Oliver, and Jimenez. Suriano is already better than 2 of them (at least), and should be able to pass the 3rd before March.

It's really going to be an interesting race.

It's also fairly amazing that PSU is a slight to moderate favorite with really only 3 "sure things" in the lineup.

The other 7 spots all have some uncertainty - but each of those 7 spots have talented guys who have been around or elite young guys who will be competing for the first time.

There is always uncertainty with freshman, but like Nolf and Nickal last year, some freshman have less uncertainty than others.

Not much about Cortez during this conversation.

Is 4th or 5th within reach as a reasonable goal for Jared?

Seems reasonable.

Highest placing 133s: 2 Clark, 4 Richards, 5 Montoya, R12 DiCamillo and Forys. (Conaway was 6th, had beaten Montoya earlier in the season.) Add Tomasello, Micic, Naser (assuming he's at 133 and not 125) ... anyone else?

For arguments' sake, let's say today he's behind Clark, Richards, Tomasello, and Micic. That's 5th.

Cortez wins matches like a heavyweight does so it's hard to figure out where he fits.

It's kind of silly to think Cortez's offense will not improve at least a little bit after being in the PSU room for over a year.

I think in most matches Cortez will score lots of points and his bonus matches will be up with the best on the team. My concern is what happens when he wrestles the top 10 guys, as I think he will revert to a more defensive style. What seperates DT, ER, Zain, etc from the pack is that they thrashed AA and non AA alike.

If someone typed that Cortez will average 8-11 points per match over the course of the year I would have to agree. This is mostly because of JC but also because of the schedule in my mind isnt all that tough.

Brock has to figure into the discussion if healthy.
