a question and answer about wrestling scholarships where PSU is used as the example. Also, Foley keeps flogging the Strittmatter to Pitt horse (actually, he does it 2 times).

Also, Foley doesn't explain this gem:

"The Iowa State hiring spree didn't come cheap. Brent Metcalf, who will serve as the volunteer assistant coach, is rumored to be earning $150,000."

For those keeping track, this is week 27, and despite promises he tweeted, no response to Flo's article about Olympic reffing corruption from Foley.

You can access this week's Mailbag at THIS LINK.

I thought ISU explained pretty clearly that Metcalf was hired to direct and run the RTC (i.e., HC of the RTC so to speak).....and any work he did for ISU was therefore on an unpaid (i.e., by ISU), "volunteer" basis??? Coincidentally, I just posted this morning that I was a little surprised how little we've heard about both Kolat and Strittmatter as candidates for the ASWP job....if there are two better candidates for that job, I'm not sure who they'd be, but ASWP's athletic administration doesn't seem like they could find their own @$$ even if you put both their hands on it!

I believe a couple guys on HR said they'd heard Metcalf was getting $210k-$220k total.

Strittmatter has told his club kids and their parents he will NOT take the Pitt job. This info has been out there for weeks. The Pitt job would probably be a pay cut and way more stressful job than running the club.

Yes, but Foley wants him there.

Yea, I saw that Strittmatter made some type of statement in January right after Peters was fired. But honestly, whether they could offer him enough really comes down to ASWP's long-term commitment, no? I read Strittmatter's statement more as a "call" on ASWP - when they didn't respond with an offer he couldn't refuse (including a long-term commitment with a Freestyle RTC), his "call" was confirmed.

What does ASWP mean???

It's an acronym for A School in Western Pennsylvania. It's been used on the BWI McAndrew board for years -- more than a decade -- as an alternative term for Pitt. I'm pretty sure that Art, who is a long-time poster on BWI, coined the term.

I was gonna guess: As Such, Wrestling at Pitt ... but that works too.

He makes a TON of money from his club....

Foley's Echo Chamber fits pretty tightly around his own head.

I wonder how much air gets inside for him to breathe ?
