So Foley's Mailbag has gone to InterMat Platinum ($39.99 per year). I enjoy some of his content; and some I have struggled with. I am not interested in paying even when you get the other articles with the subscription.

Did he get tired of being badgered about not discussing ref corruption?

Maybe Foley found out Mike C was a millionaire, so he set the subscription price at $100k/yr, demographically targeting his core audience, Mike C.

I have a few dollars to spend on my wrestling addiction, but only a limited few. The sad truth is for 95% of us we can't justify subscribing to BTN+, Flo, Intermat, Willie's new gig, and the list goes on....

The whole world seems to be moving away from advertising based revenue models to subscription service or a mix.

I am encountering the same dilemma with Cable TV, and/or Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Roku, now Disney, etc...

The claim "$10 a month is little more than 2 cups of coffee" starts to ring hollow with the realization, not all of us want to drink 100 cups of coffee a month.

I am enjoying Flo less without Willie for sure, but I can't justify another subscription and I am sure as hell am not going to subscribe to get Foley's Fridays. So I'll just check one more of my list, not much reason to go over to intermat any longer.

It is unfortunate. I get it everyone has to pay the bills, but each service is losing site of the fact that they are now in a sea with far too many other fish and fewer hooks than they think.

Wait. The services are a few fish trying to get caught by millions of hooks? Wouldn’t the metaphor work better the other way around? :)

Fishing and luring metaphors are hard to get right. See:

Here's to stylish soft white Ts being sent to 3rd world countries

I just realized that there is now 1 less reason be visiting Intermat's site. What's confusing me is that advertising revenue is based on the number of viewers / hits. I have to think that they are cutting their own throats with these moves!
